Roof rack and tow bar/sparewheel carrier ideas?

Post by Tarquin »

Hi guys
my lux has been working lately and not had any mods done to it, so here are my next ideas
i would like to get a roof rack that spans the whole top of the bakkie, one that i can bolt onto the canopy at the back and then on the gutter mounts in the front.
at the back i would like to build or buy a tow bar with 1 x spare wheel carrier on the left and have a ladder on the right to climb onto the roof rack.
not sure about what make to go for, was just wondering if any guys have a setup like this or have any other ideas, please don't hesitate to post

Just thinking out loud here. The cab and the load bin move separately from each other. On the Vigo it is clearly noticeable. If you bolt the two together with a roof rack it could be that you will damage something.

But on the other hand, I know Harold has a long roofrack, how did he overcome that problem?

Good point Thys, i didn't think of that. i wonder what plan he made
maybe i should rather think of a cab rack and canopy rack. the thing is i would like to transport long things when going away ie a canoe so it is nice to have it the full length of the bakkie, even if it is 2 pieces...

Bolt on section that rests on front bumper a-lá plumbers? Take off when not needed?

Sit so plaashak, die een meet 'n verwyderbare pen op die voor bumper. Dan maak jy 'n lang pyp wat daarin skuif en so lekker voetstuk bo vir jou lang goed.
