Re: Hilux handbrake conversion
That looks too complicated,
Use a golf GTI rear brake caliper, it has a built in handbrake lever and it's nice and compact, the disc can be machined at any engineering shop.
OR: Get rid of those 4Y's and fit a stronger motors so you can put your right foot down instead of grabbing the handbrake

Re: Hilux handbrake conversion
What master cylinder did you use in your convertion????
I used golf rear calipers, but a Hiluxes brake master cylinder is to week to opperate the rear brakes. I am now from some brakes to no brakes..... Allan I would really apreciate it if you can help me with this one.
I am considering to try a Ford Courier or Mazda Drifter brake master cylinder, because as everyone nows they have evil rear brakes iow they must have a lot of pessure going to the back.
On this forum there is also guys that says you use a Isuzu brake master cylinder (which Isuzu).
Has any one done a convertion with golf rear calipers that works.

Re: Hilux handbrake conversion
hoppy,
i am busy with my disc brake conversion-audi a4 calipers and hilux front discs for the rear(this sorts the handbrake problem!)but...
the hilux kz discs you recommended for the front-no go! the pcd on the kz disc is smaller than the sfa, because the kz disc bolts onto the hub with six 10mm bolts and the wheel studs of kz only fits the bearing hub and not through the hub and the disc like the sfa!
the disc i need must fit like the sfa and landcruiser 80 series.

No, KZ Clipers and FJ 75 Discs, or you can buy the spacers from me to fit your std calipers and use the FJ 75 discs.

Re: Hilux handbrake conversion
when fitting the KZ front Calipers and A4 rear calipers what master do you use? also the KZ setup? with the KZ booster too?

Re: Hilux handbrake conversion
The KZ Setup works better, but the std booster with the smaller (21mm) master cylinder also works.

Re: Hilux handbrake conversion
The first generation 80 series had smaller discs and calipers, same as Fj 75 they fit, but later Fj 80's had larger discs and calipers, they do not fit.
