overhaulin' my lux

Post by witmamba »

This is where I'm standing now: Full Old Man Emu system, ARB bullbar, BF All terrain 31's, African Outback roofrack, Mellvil & Moon seatcovers, Cibie spotlights, brand new KZ motor and the Safari snorkel to be fitted tomorrow. Changed the interior light to LED's - works lekker.... BUT, my wife, she does'nt talk to me that much anymore. She normally goes through this phase when I buy myself a new toy.....

Have to say though, silence is bliss!

You took the wrong aproach, before you spend money on the hilux, ask her what she needs, buy her that toaster/dishwasher or whatever, this ensures an uncontested budget for the project!

No - you okes have this all wrong

You buy the Lux "for" your lady.

That way whatever you do to the lux is a gift to her.
So she always get's something and is eternally greatful.

SO you can acctually start the conversation with stuff like "but honey I bought you that nice new 4" suspension lift just the other day - I'm afraid the shoes just have to wait :laugh2:

And THAT is how you do THAT!!!!

Hi Corrie
At most electronic shops you'll get the 3 or 4 LED light, will cost you 'bout R.15 - R.25, and it makes a helluva differrence! (besides the ocassional flat battery after a night out....)
D.I.Y. its simple, just take out your existing globe and connect the LED's + and - to the two connecting points of the interior light - DONE!

Then... sit back, open a beer, and admire

SO... had the snorkel installed, added 9500lb Tabor winch ( i like the T-max more), changed the spots to IPF's (makes daylight @ night! :beach: ). Now i'm considering a BMC air filter and aftermarket exhaust by Dutch motorsport.....

It doesn't come cheap but it certainly looks better than anything else on the market and it saved my bakkie twice already from serious damage.

Very nice bakkie!

I was about to trade-in my 1999 DC Raider 4x4 for a Prado but after seeing what you did and the ridiculous trade-in, I'm now inspired to pimp my bakkie instead...first up is the OME - did you really notice a big improvement & is it worth the bucks?

After the OME will be the SAC Stage 1 - unichip, air filter, branches & freeflow
