benefits from fitting OME torsion bar

Post by ismail »

hi all, was just thinking what are the benefits if you fit an uprated torsion bar to an IFS hilix, I cant really figure it out, I do get that you going get a stiffer spring rate hence less sag, if you fit a arb bbar an winch, but if you dont then from what I understand you are not going to get any lift by fitting one, then you might aswell turn up your std bars and fit a ome rear blades, please correct me if I am wrong.

I fitted the OME torsion bars as the standard ones couldn't handle the bullbar & winch. It makes a helluva difference as I now have the required lift with a comfortable ride, aswell as plenty wheel travel. It rides even softer now than it did before. Costs about R.3700 but well worth it.
Life only starts . . . . where comfortlevels end

Hi Ismail.
The torsion bars give you added stabilityt if you going to add weight up front.
Your spline is the same number of teeth.Original bars are 24.5mm and aftermarket are 26.5 or 27 mm.
Rate is increased by 20 Percent. If you turn up remember you must have at least 60mm of downward
travel on your shock else it drives uncomfortable.
