Hi
Just a thought - is it possible/wise/safe to install recovery points on a standard rear bumper and if so what should the shackle rating be?
Whilst at it may I pose the same question but this time with hi-lift jack points.

IMO it's OK with some modifications and as long as the recovery points / jack points are on the mounting plate / bracket that is fastened to the chassis rail.
• The chassis rail should be reinforced with a welded gusset at the mounting area for the bumper.
• An additional bolt hole should be drilled so that there are 3 mounting bolts per side instead of the standard 2 for the bumper.
• Only grade 8.8 tensile bolts should be used throughout.
• The eyelet for the 'D' shackle / clevis shackle should also be reinforced with a welded gusset.
• The chassis rail should be reinforced with a welded gusset at the mounting area for the bumper.
• An additional bolt hole should be drilled so that there are 3 mounting bolts per side instead of the standard 2 for the bumper.
• Only grade 8.8 tensile bolts should be used throughout.
• The eyelet for the 'D' shackle / clevis shackle should also be reinforced with a welded gusset.
