Spotlight mounting

Post by SWARTLUX »

Ja look, in front of the number plate won't work. On the sides is probably the best position IRO rigidity and airflow to the radiator but it's too low .... it's OK for fog lights but driving spots should be higher, so I would mount them on top of the nudge bar if the bar is sturdy. If it's not, you will get a lot of 'shake' on the spot beams which can be quite irritating. ;-)

Hi Brian
I have mine mounted on the sides of the bar just below the headlight, like in your third pic. These are fogs but I also have another set of transparent spot lenses and this position works very well. Just get good lights and make your mounting very sturdy.

Sorry Brian but I am working overseas and dont have my beloved Lux with me
It is quite easy though. Dont use just flatbar for the mounting, but something like a T section or even angle will do.
Looks a lot better when properly shaped with rounded or chamfered corners.

That's ok don't think it will be that difficult to make just need to get it to be sturdy enough other wise its going to look like the lights are bouncing around on the road will use stainless steel with some kind of reinforcement somewhere.

I agree with Andy, option 3 is prize#1. for option 2 you'll have to be prepared to clean the spots after water crossings.

Personally I would try to find a compromise between option 2 & 3 i.e have the horisontal centre of the spots in line with the horisontal centre of the top part of the nudge bar ;-)

Mine are here, could be a bit higher.
Get muddy quickly, are below long grass and can fill with water.
Otherwise on the open road, work like a charm.
