It is usually not adjustable and is set in the design of the steering arms. It is achieved by the angle (off from 90º) that is formed between the line of the axle and the line between the stub axle pivot and end of the steering arm. This angle is calculated as a co-efficient between the wheel base length (distance between front and back axles) and the width of the front axle (distance between the pivot points). If the steering arm or axle are bent, this setting goes for a Burton.

So........

If you fit wheel spacers......... what effect on the co-efficient.......:think:

Steering all sorted , No probs :D

Removed the 50mm bodylift

Got the Propshafts , Both front and rear Double Cardan (Used) but all in good nick
(Blikkies duur). Length to be sorted

Gearbox ready to be fitted , will start on 26/05/2009

Just need the knob for 4x4 . :think:

Currently the complete conversion with 4x4 gearbox cost

R 15850.25 :thumbup:

And Very happy so far . :mrgreen:

Rich, sorry, I just saw this post now. In reply, yes it would have to have an effect (because the radii are altered) but it's usually not or hardly noticeable.

David, I think that's more than reasonable (actually it's a steal if it's including the box and shafts :wink: ) :thumbup:

Apparently Rudolph Ackerman patented this in 1818, it is called geometrically correct steering. As MD said, calculated according to the wheel-base and width. Wheel spacers will not really make a difference you can see or feel.

Hi David

I am also contemplating the SAS! Have you fully completed the swap by now with the 4x4 box?
How does she handle on-road & off-road? Also, the wheel hop scenario, any feedback on that?

Lastly, how much did the complete SAS cost you, exluding 4x4 box??

Thx
Daniel

Feedback on the 2x4 -> 4x4 conversion please??

On the 4th to last pic, it looks as if the front driver side tyre got seperated from the rim, is this true?!

Thx

:shock: Nope . No de-beading :think:

Never had a prop with beads , even in mosam on .6 :thumbup:

Feeback on sas conversion :

Ifs = :crazy: :lol: :crazy:

SAS = :D: :twisted: :D:

Nico P - Are also busy with a SAS conversion

Numbnut - Some feedback : Its really worth it to do the swap .
Very Easy to do cheap and really reliable , Didn't have any breakdowns or
failures so far .

Tig welded stainless steel tank 140 liters with baffels inside . Used all original flages from std tank . Relocating tank to make space for 4 link

Triangulated 4 link setup .

Will be using coils from jeep with 16" air shocks

Front will be radius arms extended 200mm and running a panhard rod .
Coils with 16" air shocks .
