Test.....Nightbreakers - Wow!

Post by OOOOMS »

Finally after floating around and eventually getting my lazy butt of the couch, I decided to fit the H4 Osram Nightbreakers!

Took out my lightmeter measuring 904 lux at best.

Then under the same condition replaced the standard H4's with Osram Night Breakers and measured 1109 lux.

That's 22% increase, and a much whiter light!

That's a significant increase ....you're gonna get a lot of oncoming traffic flashing you to dip your lights, even though you are already on dip! :D:

Nightbreakers are phenomenal. Some people have reported failure when driving over rough road conditions, but for general usage they're great!

My experience is that the high beam is great, so much brighter, nice white light, but the std. low beam is nothing better than an ordinary H4 bulb... not much use for inner city driving!

904 Lux with the standard H4 on dim.
1109 with the Night Breaker H4 on dim = more light surely

Ja ja... remember okes I'm 51 now... somehow I aged 16 years in a few days... maar ja these things happen to the best of us... :wth:

I have 2 new Hella lens(the normal ones), completely rewired the headlight circuits, 2 relays, one for low, one for high beam... thicker gauge wire, seperate fuses, taking power directly from the main alt feed, good cleaning earthing... voltage is the same for high and low beam... but high beam is bl1ks3ms bright white, while low beam is pretty much so normal!

En my bril is skoon!

904 Lux with the standard H4 on dim.
1109 with the Night Breaker H4 on dim = more light surely

Just to throw a spanner in the works :shifty:
I had nightbreakers for about 8 months when the right one went, i was a bit surprised but being so awesome, i replaced it. that was about 2 months ago and this evening the left one went. So onto the forums too see what people think and i came across a thread on the community forum, where i see guys have found the low beam filament to be VERY unreliable. One guy changing 5 bulbs in a year! So now do i replace, or do i go silverstars (not really sure what these are but will go check tomorrow)

Here is another light test some guy did (not that i think Marks light meter is unreliable :cooldude: )
Here are the results:
20 000 lux - Cheap and nasty globes from Makro
29 000 lux - Osram Nightbreakers
37 000 lux - Osram Silverstars
43 000 lux - Koito globes as supplied standard in the Prado
