Post by biglux »

Ek het iewers gelees dat die nuwe Lux uitkom met "auto engaging front difflock".
Kan iemand my dalk se wat dit beteken en hoe dit werk?
So ver ek weet het my 2005 model nie so iets nie.
Van watter jaar af kom hy so uit?

My reply to the same question when posted on 4x4community:
Toyota has been using the wrong wording in the media since they launched the Vigo in 2005. It's an auto engaging front diff, same thing all the other bakkies on the market have.
Then another member posted this to elaborate:
"In the 4WD system of the new Hilux, the VF2A transfer switches to H2, H4, or L4 when the driver manually operates the 4WD shift lever.
· On a model equipped with a front differential with A.D.D. (Automatic Disconnecting Differential) shift actuator, when the driver operates the shift lever to 4WD or 2WD, the 4WD control ECU operates the A.D.D. shift actuator in order to lock or free the engagement of the front drive shaft and the front differential."
In other words, there is no front diff-lock, it's still a normal open diff.

So ,it is actualy quite a normal feature in bakkies and nothing more than a "sales gimmick"so that you think you are buying a vehicle with front difflock.
