GCT ICE Headunit for gen 6 Hilux
Hi guys
Does anyone have the headunit from GCT ICE fitted or know someone who has?
If so, what are your thoughts on it?
Good/ bad things about it?
Here's the link:

Re: GCT ICE Headunit for gen 6 Hilux
The guys at GCT quoted me R6 500.00 (including VAT) for the unit.
They do not install it though, but they recommend Tremour Audio in Midrand.
They say installation should cost between R550.00 and R850.00 (excluding VAT).
So the unit plus installation should set you back around R7 500 at most.
Not too bad considering a mate of mine paid over R12 000 for a similar setup...

Have you spoken to Sam at JTS Sound on Beyers Naude? They have some good deals on these head units and very reasonable, opposite Mozambique restaurant.

Is it only me? :problem: Can't get to Mark's info of other units. R7500 doesn't seem to steep considering all the features. (nice f/loader = R1000, GPS = R1500, DVD player = R1000, camera system = R3500 etc + fitment)

Stay away from GCT ICE units. Their units are made in China and the radio reception quality is terrible. Rather keep the standard radio and install a Parrot MKi9200 with all the bells and whistles.

Have a look here. I bought two of these units. One for my 2006 D4D DC and one for my wife's car. Both are more than a year old and are still working fine. For that price you can buy two. almost all of these units are made in China nowadays. The reception is acceptable for me.

Remember that the reverse camera and the navigation maps are separate but it is still cheaper. All the functions work as advertised.
See here for the thread on the installation of the unit. viewtopic.php?f=94&t=30925

Have a look at the following. The price looks good.

I like the Stopshop unit. It features "steering wheel control functions", my 2006 doesn't have this nice steering wheel. Can I upgrade to the later model steering wheel, if so, where do I go?

Re: GCT ICE Headunit for gen 6 Hilux
Personally for that kind of cash I would look at a decent name brand unit, Sony, Kenwood, etc
I got one off Stopshop, and I guess you get what you pay for. Stick to reputable names is all I can say
