Exhaust modification.

Post by bullit »

Hello all.
Recently I’ve heard a lot of the 3.0 D4D guys are removing all the boxes and putting a straight pipe to the back.

What’s the best mod for the exhaust on the D4D?

I’d love more grunt and better fuel economy but don’t think I can handle that free flow noise all day every day.

Thought and comments appreciated.

I have had the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) cut out and replaced by a straight pipe. Then I had the huge silencer cut out and replaced by a small freeflow box. The pipe still goes out the back as per normal.

I have noticed a definite improvement in performance. Cannot say the fuel consumption is much better but it drives much better. And best part is the noise levels are more or less the same as before.

I got my exhaust from Noise Boys. It has only the box at the back. I asked for one that makes the same sound as orginal. Slightly noisier but not much. Most certainly not like a free low.

I have 76mm exhaust from noise boys. One small box at back. Makes a nice noise. No errors also. But I also have a uniq chip in.
