Dit lyk pragtig maar ek het net 'n vragie. Is die intercooler van aluminium gemaak? Ek wonder want ek sien hy is swart geverf.

Hi Frik
Yislaaik ive been watching and reading the posts aith eager anticipation to see the results. I must say you have done a very profesional job Im most impressed with what it looks loke. I hope the results in consumption and power are as much of an improvement.
i too am very interested in doing the mod, as with most KZTE drivers, i have felt the bonnet after doing some driving in summer, and bliksum it can get hot. i see Niel is also interested, and he is also in CT, so ill see were he finds the parts.
ill be looking around to see what i can find back in CT.
Thanx again for posting all the info and pics, im sure there will be alot of interest to follow from fellow Lux owners.

Re: Force Air Intake KZTE
Ian thanks for the compliments and yes it makes a huge difference I took her out for a long spin yesterday and I good feel a huge difference especially in the mountains at Loskopdam area.I will feedback on my fuel consumption tomorrow as I will fill it up this afternoon and then we will see what is the difference.Something I have notice is that my Temperature gauge running a little bit lower than usual which tells me the engin also benifit from that extra draught over it.Sun Chaser wrote:Hi Frik

Re: Force Air Intake KZTE
As far as fuel consumption goes I have kept a record over the last 6 months. I have 32inch Maxis mud tyres on my Kzte Dc4x4 and a 2inch body lift and TJM raised suspension, so it is a bit heavier on diesel. I also drive like a kardoes (+130Km/h on the highway)and give the sedan cars a go up the hills, just to see the look on there faces when my Tyrannosourus Lux comes screeming past them(PRICELESS).
I get 7.5Km/L town driving.
7.2Km/L highway.

this is what I am getting withthe 31" as well. I will rather not mention the speeds just incase the traffic department decide to have a look :problem:Mr Glan wrote:I get 7.5Km/L town driving.

Re: Force Air Intake KZTE
My last posting on this thread.
I have filled up the bakkie yesterday and fuel consumption before mod was 7.4 km/l after mad 8.9 km/l so what do I have to say more. Estimated pay back time for mod between 7 and 8 months.
Intercooler fitted at a secure place no water can be sucked in via the pipes. Less turbo lag
Not sure what else
It looks cool too :D

Re: Force Air Intake KZTE
Neil the one thing I would have done differently was to lower it by 10mm as mine is just to close to the bonnet the result is it wear the lining inside the bonnet due to engin movement . I just neet to make my brackets n little bit shorter and cut the pipe but too lazy to do that maybe one morning I will do it :D

Re: Force Air Intake KZTE
Gents, did you notice if the vehicle runs warmer when i.e. in slow trafic or in off road conditions where the airflow is not that high over the bonnet?

Re: Force Air Intake KZTE
Niel, mine actualy runs cooler in traffic as well as offroad, it seems as if the bonet is also cooler to the touch. I have re-routed my exhaust past the transfer case in stead of under the gearbox, because I kept on damaging manifold gaskets when messing around offroad. This made the cabin temp around the footwell higher, so I wraped the exhaust from the turbo exit down to the flex joint with heat tape (boiler lader tape), this keeps everthing much cooler than it used to be.

Re: Force Air Intake KZTE
Thanks, I was looking at your pics and if one had to fit a fan to cool the intercooler down there is not a lot of space for it

Re: Force Air Intake KZTE
Neil on my particular I/C mod there is ample space between the engin and the I/C at least 70mm plus.I am sure you will find a fan that will fit in between.Niel wrote:Thanks, I was looking at your pics and if one had to fit a fan to cool the intercooler down there is not a lot of space for it
Personally I dont see the need for a fan my engin runs coolers since the mod.
