Toying with something here. :cooldude:

If you had a 2000 IFS 27001 D/Cab, and want to do the following, what products / company would you use, and why??
I have such a car, and love the thing. Thinking of keeping this as a weekend car for fishing, towing a small boat, camping, 4x4 trips into Lesotho> etc etc
This is what I'd like to have on the Lux..........ANY advise/thoughts appreciated ;-)

1) The canopy is OK(ish), but ideally I'd like an aluminium one with flip-up sides to access stuff inside. Which ones are nicest for the IFS?
2) Some sort of drawer system in the load bay, for fishing/camping stuff, and attaching a fridge on top - so must have a fridge slide.
3) Seat covers - I love Escape, must say........SORTED, ORDERED ESCAPE
4) Some sort of canvas storage space behind the rear seats........SORTED, ORDERED VIA 4X4DIRECT
5) Some transmission cover with bags for smokes/cellphone/GPS/keys etc etc would be great........who makes these??
6) I also love a dash cover with storage bags for papers/passports/id's..........who makes nice ones??..........SORTED, ORDERED ESCAPE
7) Then, a roofrack - I suppose a double one (canopy and cab), must be able to hold a 2 metre Oztent/gazebo. Must be 200% level (the 2 roofracks).
8) Floor mats..........SORTED, ORDERED ESCAPE

Any other accessories, like maybe a build-in safe somewhere, or extra storage space that can be " custom" freed up anywhere??

Thanks a Mill!!!!!!!!!! :boss:

Attached is a pic - I think black roofrack may look better, or alu?? Mind you, maybe alu, if I get an alu canopy for it some day.......??

4) Some sort of canvas storage space behind the rear seats
http://www.4x4direct.co.za/orginisers/5 ... -grey.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
5) Some transmission cover with bags for smokes/cellphone/GPS/keys etc etc would be great........who makes these??

Regarding point 7:
I would reconsider attaching anything which "binds" the cab and load bin. The loadbin actually moves independantly from the cab as the chassis flexes. You are possibly going to put strain on the weakest of the three components, likely the mounting points of the roofrack over the fibreglass canopy....?
Neil's stuff is A  -OK.

Thanks so far!!

Forgot to mention - I'd like to be able to take the canopy off fairly easily, if I want to shoot a bokkie or something like that on the farmpie.
My eldest daughter is also Grade 11 now, and I'm thinking of letting her use this in her Matric year.........and that means canopy OFF.

Use canopy clips instead of a bolt arrangement - easy as pie. At one point I rigged up an overhead frame with hooks on a winch and pulley system (can perhaps be done in your garage or carport) - reversed the bakkie in, unclipped the canopy, hooked it up to the frame and just lifted it off. I could have the canopy on or off in 15 mins or less. :winkx:

I'd just love to be able to keep the rollbar on when using the canopy, and not having to take that off every time. And I want the rollbar on, the Lux looks koddig without it.
I'm thinking an alu canopy with 2 "kitchen units" either side at the rear of the canopy - access is easy then from the front through the side doors, as well as at the rear.
Would LOVE to have drawers in the load bay - but then this whole thing becomes "permanent", and I want to be able to remove the canopy - at least in the beginning.

Guys apologies, I'm sort of messing up the thread now - but I'd like to take each "topic" and ask questions etc etc on it, if OK.
Regarding (1) above.......I've ordered all the OE parts now - spark plugs, oil/fuel filter, air filter and fanbelt.

What is the best oils to use here:
Engine
Gearbox
Diffs
Tranny

Any advise on (5) above, the tyres, will also be greatly appreciated.

?? Thanks!!!!!!!

VERY handy stuff this. I'm keeping all those essentials that you need, but not use every day, in that rear bag. Binoc, GPS, chargers, flashlight, etc etc. The center bag can also hold my laptop.
Tranny cover holds docs, smokes, and those glass holders are just great for my cell and wallet........they are not completely open at the bottom.
Great usable stuff - thanks!!
