Anders was my naam nou "Karlos". :wth:

:mafia: :mafia:

Email sent out from Nedbank, to their staff!

Attention: All staff in Head Office buildings

Theft of vehicles

We regret to advise that over the last few months, Nedbank staff have experienced a significant increase in the number of stolen vehicles from our parking bays.

During our investigation of the thefts, we have established that criminals are specifically targeting Toyota (Fortuner and Hilux) vehicles and have developed a simple means of disarming these vehicles. Please click here for further information on modus operandi followed by the criminals.

Owners of these types of vehicles must ensure that they have the necessary insurance and tracking devices installed.

In light of this specific criminal onslaught we have created a dedicated parking area for Fortuner’s and Hilux vehicles in Basement 4, of Phase 1 and 2 at 135 Rivonia. Please consider utilising this guarded area.

Should you notice any suspicious activities, please inform your nearest security guard and escalate to the Joint Operational Centre (JOC) – 0860 100 340 immediately.

We remind you that security and safety is everyone’s responsibility, therefore everyone should be extra vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the JOC.

Should you in the course of moving around the Nedbank campus sites, find security guards that appear not to be vigilant, or see any other suspicious activities, please contact the JOC immediately.

Group Safety and Security services are dedicated to protect our staff and assets in partnership with you, and we have improved on counter measures.

Hi Guys

Guess what???

I went to Rosebank Mall, was out for 40 mins came back to find my indicator missing, bonnet bent up and Hooter disconnected..
(they did not get as far as smashing the lock and gaining entry)

(2007 3.0 D4D 4x4 version)

Now... I have some questions...
Has anyone had the new Toyota alarm fitted? Is it worth my while?
Does anyone have a good Alarm brand they can recommend, Im not so keen on going for a tracker unit as they are easily bypassed anyway (like most alarms I guess)

My most important question though...

I have kind of managed to move my hooter, but I have a missing indicator, now I cant seem to get my alarm to work. If I push the door switch down and lock the car, when I release the switch the alarm does not go off.. so effectively I am driving around with a car with no alarm... does anyone know how the indicator / alarm bypass works so I can try fix this while I wait to have a proper alarm fitted...???

I actually would like to remove those side indicators all together, and fill up the holes at a body shop.. But how do I sort out the indicator / alarm bypass???

Thanks in advance!

I kind of managed to come up with a bit of a work around to their MO...

I dont particularily want to say what I did outright on the forum, but if anyone wants.. they can PM me, and ill explain the steps I took to try and prevent it from happening to me again...

My episode cost me R10000 in damages, I got off very lightly!

At least now, I feel a bit more at ease knowing I made it a bit harder for them to get (if they really want it, I dont think anything will stop them, but at least I may be able to deter them)

This is what my old man did.

Its just a piece of lip channel cut to size. Bolted in on existing holes. What are they going for? The wiring harness or the alarm?

:cooldude: :cooldude: :cooldude:

Hulle se mos jy moed altyd na jou ouers luister, maar die voorman wou niks weet toe ek se dit was my pa se plan nie.

Dit het ook noggals so uitgewerk dat ek en die appy die werkswinkel se "first aiders" was. So ons het die man se hand goed versorg. Hehe

Don't know if all the members are aware of this: Toyota installs these FOR FREE - you just need to take your truck to the agents and ask them to install the security fix. Maybe still not completely fool-proof, but definitely makes it a lot harder for the affirmative shoppers to disable the hooter.

What makes me a bit angry, is that Toyota doesn't advertise this (obviously because they don't make any money out of it).
