3.5L Rover V8 coversion

Post by Pkarsten »

Enige raad?

Ja, the Rover 3.5 V8 was a pretty good motor in it's time ... it's main feature was that you never had to do an oil change .... Just had to top it up every week whether you used it or not!

Seriously, I would never even consider it .... would rather go Ford V6 3 lit. before Rover V8 3.5 lit. Otherwise 7MGE or 1JZ / 2JZ. But if you're looking for just a little more guts than the standard 4Y, fit EFI or consider the 3RZE (2.7i) motor conversion. You should get 130 km/h with ease and neither hills, wind nor reliability should be a problem.
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.

And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!

Man ja, daai Rover V8 is in standaard vorm maar 'n luierige masjien.

well allow me to enter my 2czim as well

glad there are so many Ford fans here!! fell right at home!!

self had a good look at many V8 incl the chev V8, the Ford V8, and the Rover V8
and agree with the guys on here, rather go for the Ford V6, plenty of parts and info/advice every where about that one!!
cheaper then the Rover V8

self ended up going the Lexus route, am busy getting all the parts together, Motor, belhousing, flywheel, clutch....... at home

from homework done, it appears that the Lexus V8 will be lighter on fuel then the Ford V6, and a lot more power

seriously consider the lexus conversions

and this from a Ford Fan, about to fit a lexus V8 into a Courier 4x4

hope this helps you decide!!

Kyk, ek wil nou nie snaaks wees nie. Dis erg genoeg dat ouens Ford enjins in Hiluxe sit, maar regtig, Rover enjins!!!???
Dis een te veel vir my. Ek hoop nie ek kry die water of twak of watookal dit is wat julle so disorienteer, in my lyf nie!
Daar is n hele paar ordentlike Toyota(Lexus) enjins wat 1000 keer beter is as die goed waarvan julle nou hier praat. Hel, even n Chevy V8, maar n rover!!!!?????

Ek wil self n ander enjin in my Hilux sit, maar dit sal slegs n Lexus V8 wees, of minstens n 2.7 Toyota.

Jaco, Lexus V8 ombouings kan tussen R45 000 en R70 000 kos.

all depends of weather you do every thing your self, or you have someone do it for you!!
there are many options that could influence cost

self posted my estimated on a thread a few weeks ago, just go back a page of two on here sure you can find!!

10 years ago, the way to go was Ford V6, now days its, undoubtedly the lexus V8 is the way to go!!

enjoy!!

not a bad choice, however just keep in mind that a lexus conversion cost will be about the same as any other conversion and a lot more fun!!

all depends on what your needs and application

good luck!!

3rz ? Would not go down that road matie. Had one and it did not like hills at all. Forget about jumping into the fast lane and getting past a truck because you going to have a beamer flashing you like crazy.

Rover and frots
Like the guys say look at the cost of the 3rz mod, done rite it won't be cheap.
