Lexus 4L V8 Spark Plug Leads

Post by Bryan McBowles »

Hi Guys

I am hoping that someone will be able to assist me. I recently replaced my Toyota Land Cruisers 80 Series motor with a Lexus 4L V8 Motor. After many obstacles I got it started. One of the cylinders is not getting any spark and and I traced the problem to the spark plug lead. I have phoned numerous places the only people that can help me is and the agents charge me R2800 & Gemini at R2000 for a full set.

The problem I have is that I do not need a full set and its way to expensive for me. I was hoping that there might be someone on the forum that might (big might) have a spare or a second hand number 8 spark plug lead for the 1UZ-FE motor that I can possibly buy.

After this lead is replaced I am going to take it for a dyno to tune it correct and hopefully it will give a positive result.

Hope someone can assist me, as I know that there are a lot of the guys who has done the Lexus replacement in the hiluxes.

A number 8 lead you say? Please measure the length of the lead, I might have one for you....

You are not serious? Oh gee – about 500 mm. It’s basically the longest one of the lot. It is the last cylinders lead.

that is a great question, and would also like to know!!

over and above that, the toyota dealer that I went to, gave me a price on only the one lead, as one of my lead does not look 100%, despite my motor having run in front of me with out a miss!!

it was R300 odd

then the other thing to consider, believe they are the same, is a set for a 2L camry, believe they are similar!! and can be used, maybe try another Toyota dealer, self used Rand Stadium totota now by the glen!!

That sounds exactly like the one I need. How much do you want for it?
I see you are out in Witbank. I am about a hours drive away from you.

Thank you Jonathan , the lead you supplied me (for free nogal, don't get people like this anymore) is 100% and identical to the faulty lead I have.

You are a star, if my Cruiser conversion is complete I will have to to take you for a spin.

Just for future reference. You can use the Spark plug leads from any 6cyl cressida motor. They are identical.
