Abusive Relationship comes to an end.....with a Knock !

After many years of serious abuse my faithfull old Hilux No7 has said enough to all the "Hammering"..... Friday started off great till I decided at 4:30 to load No7 for Saturedays local wheel.....there was a knock unlike any other I'd heard . Old Rigs make noises but You get used to them !Too many rolls too little oil pressure and the oil sender unit took a serious hammering recently adding all to the problem....most weekends No7 spends lying around in some or other place not meant for the average Rig.....

This was more than the small-end knock that had been there for the past 3 months, This was serious and after calling on a few friends I decided to treat the old girl to a service hoping all the unwanted simptoms would dissapear I put new plugs, oil filter ,oil and stuck some R230-00 Prolong "Mechanic in a can" down her throat for good measure as well. Started Her up on the Saterday morning and all sounded well so I loaded up the trailer and off We went for a wheel at a local spot....after the second obsticle, a mud hole the knock was so bad I was expecting electrical problems so hoping the crank would miss the recently rebuilt starter I nursed the Rig back to the trailer and tried to get it loaded......I had to select 1st crawl to get onto the trailer.....No power at all....Well enough Whining long story short it's actually a blessiong in disguise. Time for a Lexus !!! After a party that evening everything was organized .....Motor , bellhousing , fly-wheel , clutch assembly,management and a dyno all in one evening just by calling a couple of friends !!!
Started after work this evening to strip out the 4.3 Chevy V6 and We should have it out tommorow evening .

:wth: Hansie You sound like my first girlfriend.....take it easy at first! I spoilt No7 on Friday with all those new spares and look where that got me ....fit the motor get the oil pressure up then terrorize the mini-factories around my shop.....the"Oval Track" hasn't been used for a while and the neighbours need a reminder that We are still around
Once the motor was pulled I found the reason why the clutch wasn't so happy and secondly I pulled out the oldest Tastic rice packet I've ever seen from inside the bell housing.....it's still marked in lbs for it's weight :boredom: enough Warra Warra heres some pics

Good One ! I'd still love to know how old that packet is ? Motor is also for sale ....I'll give it a wash and it was only used on Sundays by a little old lady to get to the Mall and back on a dust road !

Got some time this week to get stuck into No7 .....so the motors been fitted the engine bay got a coat of paint and just the exhuast needs looking at on Monday. All the wiring has been sorted out and the fuel lines have also been replaced. The chassis had about 5 cracks right through that was also cut out and strengthened.....Must say for all the years of abuse the old Rig has stood up well :wth:Now No7 will make it for the next 20 years and my kids can have as much fun as I've had with it. My oldest boy who's 9 at the moment has aready asked for a set of rails under the drivers seat to be able to reach the pedals with a harness on ....hope He doesn't pick up any bad driving habits....

Heidelburg next weekend Sunday .....Come run what you brung...gonna check if I can Iron out some old body panels with a Lexus powered Hilux and maybe add some new "Rock-Rash" The "Donkey" is gonna get a kicking like never before !

Like the beaten Donkey! Today No7 got put on the dyno and I'm very happy with the results....200+ horses on the rear wheels...thats double the power I had before. As expected No7 got taken from the dyno to the streets.....what a Rip.... now I can drive with the throttle and steer the rear at the same time Our little industrial area doubled as a "Trophy Truck" track and even with a set of 36" Simexes the rear-end comes out all the way up into 3rd gear....Gonna have fun at Heidelburg this weekend !

The week-end wheel at Heidelburg was a great outing and No7 did not dissapoint me at all....Satureday evening at about 11 o'clock we did a night drive into the mountain and Sunday was just a Rip from early on. We crawled rocks all day and ended up in a mud bath that made the Lexus limit in all the gears. Most of the other vehicles were just getting through the thick stuff in 4 low ....we decided that 2 high was the best gear to go with.... No 7 was throwing 20 meter roosts all afternoon.....best conversion I've ever done !!!
