4Y Turbo?

Hey Guys,

has anyone tried adding a turbo to the standard 4Y setup? if so any feedback of performnace / issues?

Don't go that route unless it's for a competition vehicle and you don't mind working on the head every now and then .... was not designed to be turbo'd and reliability will fly out the window. Can't handle the high compression.
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.

Andy there are a few pretty reliable turbo'd 4Y's running around. I believe the trick is to use a cometic copper gasket. One of the big problems is that guys try of get every last kw out of the 4Y by running the boost as high as possible, this of course leads to trouble!
