Walky Talky

Post by pietpetoors »

I see in this month's WegRy they have a comparison between the walky talky type of radios. Because one do not need a license for them they are rather popular.

I see that they quote ranges of up to 9km (Motorolla) . Is this for real or is this in absolute ideal conditions?
Another question I have is; How do they perform if you do not have line of sight?

Pieter,
I have two of those string connected cans
We use them when driving in a very short convoy(4 4x4's). The range is wonderfull when going through the northern cape up to 7km, but through swazi only about 2-3km.
You cant compare them to the gadgets you guys sport in your luxes and the price proves it.
