West Coast Flowers

Post by pietpetoors »

It seems as if we will have an early flowering season this year. We had very good rains in May and June and already some of the flowers started to open. This is not all that good news. If we get severe cold in the next month or so the flowers that is already open might be damaged and there might be no flowers at all. We went for a drive through the West Coast National park. We saw various flowers and I added some of the photographs. I will keep you updated with the latest flowering news.

Yes, lovely spot to get out and just walk in the veld. Is Potsberg open already? It sounds like you stay somewhere on the ridge in Myburg Park (as you discribed your view in previose postr)?

No I don't thanks.

I always said to my Charmaine my ideal place to stay would be in the Western Cape close to the sea in winter and in the Eastern Cape or Natal right next to the sea in summer. I hate dry places and the winter here in Gauteng makes me depressed. In August when the first signs of spring appears with a little bit of green starting to show here and there it normally feels like a dark cloud is lifted from my spirit.

I am hoping to head for the West Coast in mid-August. I would like to visit Tankwa again and spend a day or two there, last year the flowers were wall-to-wall.
If anyone else is going about that time it would be nice to meet for a chat.
