Insurance - How much do you pay?
I've been looking around and quotes range from R688 to R1200
Outsurance : R969
Dial Direct: R689
Virgin: R706
Glenrand MIB: R1232
These are for my 3.0 D4D D/C 4X4 - 2006 model
Althought Dial Direct is cheapest, they are part of Auto & General. I want to stay far away from A&G since i (and a lot of my friends) have had issues with them.

I've read about tuffstuff, is anyone there? That would be interesting to know what (and where, cause the other's don't cover your overland into Bots, Moz or Nam) they cover.

Re: Insurance - How much do you pay?
I see that somehave special 4x4 cover.
most cover you in neighbouring countries
also i hear that some/most dont cover you on the 4x4 tracks/courses unless you call and tell them that you going (Similar to taking your car to a race track). they do however cover you for normal off-road

'89 lux with extra's specified R350/month GROCH AND ASSOCIATES CC
This covers me on all trails in SA, Botswana, Namibia ect.... as long as I've notified them of the out of country dates at no extra cost.(They generaly always know the dates as you need to have insurance certs for crossing into Bots, and some other places just to be safe)
Claimed once before when affirmative shopping claimed my old 4x4 SC and no hassles what so ever, even got a hire car for a month.

Re: Insurance - How much do you pay?
I'm with Tuffstuff, 2001 Ford ranger 2.5Td DC 4x4, R475 base cost, some extra for the specified bits liek extra rims, bullbar, radios, blah blah, less than R700.Rieks wrote:I've read about tuffstuff, is anyone there? It is easier to tell you what TS don't cover than to start writing everything they do cover.
They don't cover RECOVERIES from Angola (but the damge is) there are some limitations on laptops but I'm not sure of themnm right now, they don't cover any competition against time.
They do cover you for the Bridgestone fundi challenge and other competitions involving SKILL and which are not time based, They do cover your sunday trails, they do cover you in all other countries south of the equator plus kenya above the equator. Damage etc in Angola is covered, but you have to get the vehicle to the Namibia border (issues with security & service providers). They do cover vehicle drownings but repeat offenders will get some stern words!
They also have roadside assist in all these countries, they just recovered a terracan from Mid namibia when it popped the engine, and then gave the family a hire vehicle to finish their holiday and get home.
