Oh NO! ... Not AGAIN! .... this is so disheartening! :x Eish, I hope you have better luck than I did in getting it back. Will keep an eye open for it in these part in case I see it passing through this way. :eh: PM me with a case number that I can keep on my cell if I see it, so that I can give the cops a reference.

This really irks me, some South African's have no respect for the own countrymen and their possessions! I really hope and pray that the bakkie is found and returned to it rightful owner!

Do you know exactly where in Strand the vehicle was stolen from?
I think I saw it parked in beach road sometime during the week.

Mens verloor meer as wat mens terug wen, al kry hulle die bakkie weer, voel mens ooit weer die selfde oor die ryding?

Sabian, it might be a good idea to post a pic or two with distinctive characteristics that will make it easily recognisable if another forum member sees it (something like the pic below). I also don't think that there is a problem to put the case number up as well as a reference. Every measure is one more avenue that might get it back to you.

Thanks for all the comments. If Hilux men could cry I probably would.

Bakkie was stolen from Beach road at the Lifesaving club. A bunch of churches have been doing a holiday club there all week and we were also there, so it's been on Beach road all week. It had the canopy on when it was stolen.

On the rear it has the Hilux4x4 club sticker and the AAWDC sticker. On the right side above the wheel arch it has a Cycle Addiction sticker. On the front it has a Hilux4x4 sticker and it has a 4y inside sticker. As Mud Dog pointed out with the labels ( Thanks! ) there are a few other trademark and also the Sunroof that can't be seen at the moment.

Police case no: 438/1/2011
Wo.K Nebhisi is the investigator.

They did assure me that the code6 has been broadcast in Kayalitsha.

As for wanting it back.... A lot of work went into Roy. R10k engine and suspension work. Recently did the slave clutch cylinder. Also had a lot of goodies behind the seat. Cheap stuff like duct tape Q20 and a tyre guage, some roap and some other stuff, but it all adds up and all the work that goes in makes a vehicle sentimental.

I was getting it ready for our yearly mission to Mosambique, so that is a bummer.

Anyway, with the engine still being run in, I don't know if I want it back. The people who stole it obviously would respectfully drive it, and I can't go through another engine drama. Looks like it's going to be take the insurance payout and cut the losses of the money spent on the engine. I wouldn't be able to get another decent one for the price, so it might be a long time before I can call myself a Hilux owner again.

Thanks for all the support so far guys! I really appreciate it. If anything happens, I'll post it as soon as I can.

I think that "4Y Inside" sticker might have had something to do with it. Mine had parked in that same place a few times over the months prior to it being stolen. Days after I put that sticker on it, it was stolen. They apparently steal the vehicle for the motor alone .... and sell it to the taxi guys.

Thanks for putting up the other details .... might just pay off. ;-)

I can promise you that should they be caught by me, they'll die a death suited to the crime. Read slow and painfull.

I've had my first 4x4 taken by affirmative shoppers and it's not a pleasant experience.

Very shitty. I hated the hilux hunt. Took so long. You eventually get so desperate that your judgement is compromised. Most are overpriced. The good ones are always taken....or too far away. Seller honesty is not what it used to be, and these trucks are old so there's never any guarantee. But keep the faith and be patient. Will keep an eye out for you too.

So, even after trying to fight it, the insurance will pay out R29,500 after all accesses  :eh: The sad reality is that I'll have to revoke my Hilux club membership. One day I might try again, but I just can't afford a replacement now. I loved that lux and I'll be stalking this forum for a long time.
