Re: AAWDC Charity Run for SA Red Cross – 5 June 2011.

The AAWDC (Association of All Wheel Drive Clubs) of Southern Africa will hold its first national Charity Run on 5 June 2011, organized by the Nissan 4x4 Club of South Africa. The aim is for anyone wanting to donate new (or slightly used) blankets, clothes, bedding, as well as non perishable food stuffs, educational toys, to less fortunate people, are welcome to do so, near most main towns in South Africa.

We are requesting your help regards arranging donations of the following:
1) Regional collection centres, to ensure that donations can be easily dropped off,
2) Various fun activities sited at each venue, with a percentage of ticket prices being donated to the
Red Cross (use the attached document to begin discussions with suppliers),
3) Parking for approx 500 vehicles, vehicle security by volunteers,
4) Parking and loading facilities for large trucks to receive the donations,
5) Email distribution, to your members and regional supporters, of the invitation, other information to
be sent,
6) Printing facilities for 1000 x A4 flyers, 500 x A4 stickers for placement onto vehicles rear windows,
7) No alcohol allowed.

Donations will later be transported from the collection venues by sponsor’s vehicles, to the nominated
regional Red Cross charity points, where the donations will immediately be handed to recipients. 4x4, and
other clubs, may be asked to help with transport and distribution of the donations, under the administration
of the Red Cross, especially for those ‘hard to reach’ areas.
When:
5 June 2011.
Time: 10h00 to 15h00.
Where:
Central venues (e.g. race tracks, stadiums) close to the following towns: Nelspruit, Polokwane,
Pietermaritzburg, East London, Port Elizabeth, Mossel Bay, Cape Town, Bloemfontein, Kimberley,
Upington. Venues around these towns will be advised soonest. Large, open spaces, with lots of parking
for many vehicles, needs to be arranged. The Johannesburg and Pretoria areas to be organised by the
Nissan 4x4 club.

What:

Blankets, clothes, bedding, non perishable and tinned foods, educational toys, etc – anything that
will help sustain people in the cold of winter, and bring some cheer to less fortunate people.
How: People wishing to donate, should bring their donations to the nearest central venue, where they can
offload these, for loading into sponsor’s trucks, or AAWDC affiliated club 4x4s for distribution.
Please help market the event, and the day, through your organisation, by including this, and future, letters
/ notices to your email distribution lists. Volunteers and sponsors, nationally and regionally, to assisit with
various aspects of the event, will be much appreciated, and should contact the Nissan 4x4 club on:
082-8022890 / 083-2765149 / 082-9235682 / 083-4190010 who will gladly use the help offered.
