Rev Counter not working

Post by Breet1989 »

Hi.

Can someone please help me, i have bought myself a Toyota Hilux DC 1999 3000D (5L) but the Ref Counter isnt working.

Can someone please inform me where the Pickup is located on the motor, or provide me with a Repair Manual for my Bakkie, so i can start working on the little repairs myself.

Thanks

Morning All.

I have checked this morning for that wire, but I cant seem to find it! the only thing that is on my alternator is a plug with 3 wires, 1 always have power 12 -14V and the other 2 also have 12-14V if the motor is running!

Will post a picture of the alternator so you guys can have a look.

Thanks

Hi Breet Look at the back side of the dieselpump there is a 3pin connector 2 wires comes from the side of the pump where your pick up is and the other wire comes from the solenoid if the check the resistance of the pickup it must be +_28 ohm also check revcounter it self hope you can do so

thanks Skilpad!

Will check it out tommoz, i opend my dash board and checked the ref counter! everything looks good.

Let me explain what i saw, there is 3 connections on the ref counter on the blue board on the back, one is the IGN (i think its ignition), a ground (Brown) & one i have no idea but its black on the entry point it says "TM.P", i followed the wires thru the dash and it comes out of the right side close to the injector pump, both the Black (TM.P) & Ground (-) are not connected at all! will go and take a few photo's now and show you what i mean.

and i think there is a couple of parts missing as well if i studied the repair manual correctly

BRB with photo's

PS* Im in malawi - hard to find a good mechanic, if there is any

Are you sure the rev counter itself is working?

You have to send the cluster into someone that can hook it up and check it out. You wont be able to check it yourself. I will speak to a mate of mine who is an auto elec and find out where the pick up is and let you know. But I think your problem might be with the cluster itself.

oh okey thanks Gunta, but as i replied on a earlier post! there is a Black wire that is hooked part of the ref counter, but is not connected! have a look at the picture's above (black = TM.P) not connected & the Brown (Grnd) with both leads to the ref counter unit but not connected anywhere.
