Another stunning day in the Mother City, so the girls and I are off for our walk to the beach and swim.... This is why I love this place sooo much, these perfect, windless days, the most difficult thing to decide is weather to take my bike out for a cycle along the coast or walk the dogs to the beach... Girls turn today...

It's turned very cold, and the "clicks" have been very bad over the last couple of weeks.

Time to click on the blue tag and feed our puppies. Please guys, it takes just one click, nothing more. But do this every day.

Some years ago, at a Russian Zoo, a chimpanzee died leaving her baby orphaned. When one of the zoo employees took the baby home to care for it she never imagined that her Mastiff would adopt him and treat him as one of her puppies. Check out the photos below.

Used to bring home strays on a regular basis as a kid much to my parents consternation. We had a boxer female dog that actually produced milk in spite of having been spayed and nursed a stray kitten I found in a drain. Unfortunately we had to find a home for the kitten because she clawed the boxers teats so badly when she fed that her teats became infected.. But it was such an amazing site. The boxer carried the kitten around as if it was one of her puppies... Are'nt animals just wonderful..

I think the Chinese call it "Chi" ...... the phenomenon whereby most (if not all) infant mammals have a cuteness that is recognised across the board .... the big eyes, sometimes puffy face and limbs etc. ..... the motherly instinct kicks in and the 'orphan' is taken as one of her own.

I think that the instinct for pack domination is greatly reduced in domesticated animals ... the humans always occupy the 'top dog' status, although there is still an established pecking order but there is no need for competition for territory and feeding grounds. The humans take care of that too. Thereafter it's easy for them to get along, dependant on their nature and if they are raised together from young. Had a friend that had 3 dogs, two cats and a crow ... they sort of grew up together and used to lie in a heap with the crow sitting atop one of the dogs. A strange sight, but they were inseparable.
