What is the right oil for a 4Y?

I must admit that I mostly sommer gooi multigrade oil, but what is the recommended oil for a 2,2 4Y engine?

20W-50 (SG or better). You'll need 3.5 litres if you replace the oil filter as well ( strongly recommended).
I'm not a great Shell fan but I use Helix. ;-)

I went through that excercise when I had my SFA. Used Castrol Edge 10w40, what a pleasure. Then replaced with GTX 20w50, what crap oil that was. I would try for the Helix range, owner swears by it! Give that a try.

Just for interest, how do you determine if the oil was not up to standard? Do you send a sample to a lab to measure the viscosity and contamination after a certain amount of km's travelled?

After oil change, tapped noises became noiser. Changed back to magnatec. A lot better.

Can one change from one type of oil to another without problems? I have been using Castrol GTX for the past nine years and would like to try something new. SAL NIE GRAAG SHELL WIL GEBRUIK NIE!!!!!! Gooi NOOIT Shell petrol in nie!!!!

So as die nood druk, kan ek sommer so 500ml van my bloed ook intap. Daar is genoeg cholesterol in vir goeie smering :think:
