You only need enough pipe after the turbo to convert the radial flow of gas to axial, that can usually be acheived rapidly through a reduction in diameter or an abrupt change of direction (eg 90deg bend) as soon as possible after the exhaust housing

Blom, I fitted the 63 to my Ssang Yong Moose for exactly that reason. (see earlier post)
R850 bucks - 63mm mild steel from turbo back with a single 63mm freeflow box at the back
Nice sound, nice power
( and the budget shop I was at didn't have the tooling to bend 76mm or I would have done it)
