IMO: if its turbocharged (petrol or diesel) the less back pressure the better as you do not need to scavenge your cylinders as they are being force fed by the 'charger.

A turbo also substantialy reduces the noise

on my Ssang Yong Musso turbo diesel I have a 63mm pipe from the turbo back and have only 1 63mm freeflow muffler at the rear.
it makes a nice throaty sound on accel but you can't even hear it while cruising

IMO: any turbo car, the bigger the better.
it comes down to tolerence of noise
a friend of mine has a turbo diesel cruiser with a 76mm pipe and 1 freeflow box and it is quite.

as said here earlier the bigger the pipe the lower the EGT and that means you can increase the fueling saftely, increasing your power.
I beleive this is one of those cases where bigger definitely IS better

76mm is perfect for the 3CT - I was going to fit that to mine with the top mount intercooler from the 2.8 mitzi

I must humbly disagree, you do not need to scavenge on a boosted engine.
You only need enough pipe after the turbo to convert the radial flow of gas to axial, that can usually be acheived rapidly through a reduction in diameter or an abrupt change of direction (eg 90deg bend) as soon as possible after the exhaust housing

Mark, are you trying to start a war between Heinrich and myself??? :wth:

:D:

Blom, I fitted the 63 to my Ssang Yong Moose for exactly that reason. (see earlier post)
R850 bucks - 63mm mild steel from turbo back with a single 63mm freeflow box at the back
Nice sound, nice power

( and the budget shop I was at didn't have the tooling to bend 76mm or I would have done it  )
