quick over night setup, or we add the awning for longer stops or rainy weather.
we actually sleep in the Hilux. The tent is a dressing room, and packing space for our items.

Re: camping setup pics
i've always wondered about the practicality of a rooftop tent?
It's relatively safer from the bugs and reptiles on the ground, and probably dryer as well, but you pretty much stuck there for the duration of the camp?
When I go camping I need to be mobile, working the fishing spots in the area. RTT not gonna work for me in this case.

Thats the thing about this thread - it shows all different ways of campingdalkill wrote:i've always wondered about the practicality of a rooftop tent?

caravan , tent 4x4 caravan or trailer rtt tents and so on
I also do not always use the trailer it depends on where we are going and so on.
I want to do a Namibia tour and would not tow the trailer as there will be lots of driving.
what works for one doesn't work for the other , but it gives idieas about different ways off camping.
Thanks so far for everyones input hopefully there is more to come.

Re: camping setup pics
I’m a lazy camper; the set-up’s posted are not for me. I want to be able to set up camp in less than 10 minutes and pack it up just as fast. All we need to do when we stop is get our chairs to sit on and pop up our tent. Everything else remains in the Hilux!
Our set up has been in regular use for the past 16 years, hence the tent looking kinda dirty.
Bet you aint seen a tent like ours?

I have two RTT's gathering dust and a 4x4 trailer that gets used maybe twice a year for short trips, i prefer my good old canvas dome tents on the ground.

I mainly camp with the off-road trailer, although if we do serious overlanding the trailer stays put and we camp in ground tents.
