Due to our association with 4x4 Offroad Academy, Team Offroad is in a position to offer you ONLINE 4x4 driver training.

What does this entail?
When enrolling for online 4x4 driver training you get access to learning material that will provide you with the knowledge to prove that you are competent against the prescribed 4x4 driver unit standard (US254135).

While studying the learning material you have access to an internet forum to post any questions you might have.

Once you worked through the learning material, and you are comfortable that you are in a psoition to answer the exam questionaire you access the exam and complete it on-line as well. The scoring is done on-line and you will be notified of the results. In the very unlikely case that you do not "pass" you can re-do the exam at your leisure.

After completing the theoretical part of the training, you book a Formal Assessment with one of our assessors, or you could join us on the Assessment day of one of our training sessions. Here your driving skills will be assessed againt the outcomes of the unit standard.

Price for Online 4x4 Training is R750 payable in two installments. One installment (R500) when you enroll which will give you access to the learning material, and a second installment (R250) when you book your Practical assessment.

For more information, please visit the webpage: http://www.4x4offroadacademy.com/ePoeInfo.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. To enrol for the ONLINE TRAINING, please visit the webpage : http://www.4x4offroadacademy.com/enrol_online.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Please do not hesitate to ask any questions

Please explain the fine print - “After the training you are recognised as a competent driver, not an accredited driver”

So this mean it is only for yourself and you will not yet be accredited?

I contacted Peet for clarification and will give you an answer as soon as I hear from him. As far as I understand it, that means when you have done the training, you will be competent, until you had a formal practical assessment and your documentation was submitted to TETA, and the accreditation process is initiated.

If that is the case then this is definitely worthwhile - Thanks Thys!

Ek vang myself praat van "an accredited driver".

Okay it seems that it is a matter of terminology. The learner will be competent against the US, and therefore will qualify for the DCC when it comes into existence.

Just a note guys. I see you have to also pay your own entry fee for the facility used on the assessment day. The reason why this is not included in the R750 is because it may vary from center to center, e.g. a venue Johies might charge more than one in CT etc.

The advantage is also that you can do this in your own time, evenings or whenever you have time for self study. The only disadvantage is that you miss out on the group-dynamic in the classroom setup, where some guys might ask questions you havent thought of. :twisted:
