SFA Turbo Diesel Conversion

Post by IndianaJones7746 »

Hi

I want to convert my work-"donkey" 2.4D SFA Hilux to Turbo Diesel, and want it to keep it an all Toyota conversion.

Which of the following engines would you recommend:

1. 3C-T (2.2TD import)

2. 2L-T (2.4TD import)
I believe they are getting very scarce, which is a negative. But since there is a 2L (2.4D) currently in the bakkie, it should make the conversion to 2L-T easy.

3. KZ-TE or KZ-T(mechanical fuel pump from 2.8D 3L)

4. Obviously a 2.5 or 3.0 D4D would be great, but how difficult and expensive is such a conversion these days?

Where is a good place to source any of these engines?

Thanks very much

Please don't recommend a petrol engine or a Mazda 2.5TD.

Hallo Ben,

1&2 - Amost impossible to get from the importers and if you can get, R12k+

3. My first choice
4. Ok, 3.0(1KD) will be my rel first choice but can easily set you back R34-40K - you might have to upgrade the gearbox aswell?

In my yard there is currently an SFA with a 2L-T motor in, it needs some attention, but it is not a rocket!

Good luck!

Propably on a farm?

Farm = Diesel (almost) always available!

As Thabo says, always have diesel on the farm, and buy it directly from the depot.
