Bass Lake - 20 April 2013 (Replaced - Heidelberg)

Post by Ali3n »

So it is time to start planning our next event. I know Bass Lake was originally replaced by Heidelberg but that has moved to the next weekend so Bass Lake is back in.

Costs are R100p/p per day with R100 refundable deposit if you were good and R50 driving permit. Due to there being deposit implications we will each be paying on the day.

Please note that they do not want to have more than 6 vehicles on the trail at once so we are trying to find out if we could have 2 - 3 groups depending on interest. Will keep you updated. So we need to get the lists going. Should there be more than one group we will nominate group leaders.
Self Drive 4 x 4 Trail
PLEASE NOTE: NO 2 x 4’s are allowed on the Off-road Trail

The 4x4 trail is open, for self driving, 5 days per week, except in the case of heavy rain, when the track is closed. If you wish to use the 4 x 4 trail after heavy rain, please call first to check if the 4 x 4 track will be open before driving out.
A maximum of 6 vehicles permitted in 1 group on the trail. Larger groups may stagger departure time on trail.

The length of this trail is 14 km long and has a number of technical sections. If done in full, the trail will take around 3 hours. This trail is a natural track and includes ascents / descents and water sections. Escape routes are available at the difficult sections. The trail is marked with a number system. Rules apply to the use of the track and are printed on the 4 x 4 permit. Please proceed to the waterfront area on the lowest level and visit our outdoor shop where the permit & map are obtainable.

All Self Drive 4 x 4 activities must cease by 16h30 . All 4 x 4 vehicles must report to the waterfront, for deposit refunds, by our staff by 16h45 at the latest.

You are welcome to stay for the balance of the day and enjoy the use of the resort facilities. Please refer Day Visitor's page and Rates page.

Rates
The cost for the 4 x 4 self drive permit is R50 / vehicle/ day. Gate entry fees are payable in ADDITION to permit fees.
A R100 deposit/vehicle is required and refundable at the day's end, if all rules have been adhered to.
Additional R100 pp/day entrance (Gate entry fees)
Children under 1.2 meters R50 per child per day

Its a pitty that we can only ride 6 vehicles at a time, makes it a bit difficult for me & Sidonie to get action shots of all the vehicles on the obstacles.

Not missing out on footage this time. :D:

Hi,

Gaan ek my bakkie krap/seermaak?

All is welcome, and we are there to help each other at all obstacles.

I have been to Basslake before, good ground clearance would be a plus, but l am not saying that a standard vehicle can't do the track, we will help and have a great fun day.

Hi Dewald

I personally am not a huge fan of the rocksliders that attach to the chassis. In my mind any additional hole drilled decreases the strength of the chassis. m2cw

I personally feel the same as you on this one. Thats why I build them to either match the existing holes or clamp around the chassis.

Lyk my ek gaan nog baie moet spandeer of maar eerder net by visvang moet bly.

Jou bakkie is vrek nice.

Maar net my 2c

Looks can be deceiving.

or the bakkie, good ground clearance and might be able to have more fun

this will be a good opportunity to get to know the Jeep better

would of loved to of camped over, however we need to be in Secunda on the 21st at 08H30

Hallo.
Ek is so nuut soos n army stoor se uniforms in die 4x4 bedryf.
:beg:
Ek moet net eers verby die vrou (a.k.a Hitler) kom om saam te kom, maar ek is seker dit sal nie n probleem wees as dit n dag ding is nie.
Sy dwell maar meestal in die nag.... :shh:
Thanks
Just a guy with a passion for 4x4.....

Wow!

Net 'n voorstel!!!
