Body Lift On a Fortuner
Good day all.
I just want to find out if anyone on the forum has done a body lift on a Fortuner??
I want a bit better ground clearance without putting to much strain on the suspention.
I have done it on my KZ that I had and it was a very simple thing to do.
Any help or feedback would be appreciated.....

Re: Body Lift On a Fortuner
A body lift will not increase your ground clearance -it will only raise your centre of gravity.
Crooza VX 80 efi - fully locked.

Re: Body Lift On a Fortuner
With a body lift alone you dont gain ground clearance. Unless you do it to fit bigger tyres..

You might not improve ground clearance but you will improve your approach and departure angles (where the bumper is bitted to the body)

Re: Body Lift On a Fortuner
I would think twice about lifting the body on a Tuna. They did have their instability issues so I don't know if this will make it worse. Do a decent lift on the suspension that will increase the clearance under vehicle which is more critical IMO. If you want to lift the body increase the track (width) by fitting wheels with a different offset to help with the stability. But if you start flexing those wheels you stand the risk of ripping of the wheel arch mouldings.

Re: Body Lift On a Fortuner
The Only reason for a body lift to make sense if you want to go bigger wheels, but beside that it makes no sense.... o yes it also looks good - but performance - no real benefits.
The Fortuner's suspension is really flexible, you can get enough height by playing a bit with the suspension

Re: Body Lift On a Fortuner
What the guys are saying here fits very well with my own opinion. You're not going to improve ground clearance, not even break-over angle. A body lift is one of the last things you want to do, and only when you need to as in the case of accommodating big wheels or a motor that's too big / high to fit under the bonnet. You will loose more than you gain if you want to do it for aesthetics alone.

The only reason to do a body lift is to fit bigger wheels.... and then get your axles a bit higher, but beside that there is no benefits really, ok your approach and departure angles might also be a bit better but ground clearance and wheel travel still the same.
I would rather do a suspension lift, front and rear - this will give you overall better performance.
