Hope they changed their formula for more grip less slip on wet tar, and also to eliminate the cracking and chipping of the tread.
The word Dzombo is derived from the Tsonga word Dzombolo meaning ‘to wait for something that is slow in coming.
Named after one of the Magnificent Seven, sadly killed by a Poacher Oct 1995 @ 50 years old.
Dzombo1 Ex Army Hard Top TD upgraded to 200 Tdi. Dzombo2 1997 Discovery 300 Tdi.
Dzombo3 2000 Jeep GC Laredo 3.0l Diesel. Dzombo4 2005 Hilux KZTE Legend 35.

I notice that besides being more aggressive, the side-wall sipes provide a more direct line for water / mud dispersal which should reduce the possibility of aquaplaning on wet asphalt. They look good!

Just a quick note... you're referring to the grooves  The sipes are the small / thin grooves on the tread blocks assisting with grip and sucking up water
Image
Grooves and Sipes: The tread area is separated into independent tread blocks by the deep channels known as grooves, which both define the tread blocks and help to channel water out from underneath them. Sipes are the small cuts made in the tread blocks themselves. Siping patterns in the tread blocks tend to suck up water and allow the tread blocks to flex, providing better grip on wet or snowy roads.
