Dream come true
Just realized my boy hood dream... Bought my first Hilux a 2009 2.7VVTi raider and man I am like a kid on Christmas.
The reality hasn't sunk in yet that I own this beautiful vehicle...

Congrats!!!
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!

Re: Dream come true
Thanks for all the welcomes guys... looking forward to getting involved in the forum.
Still a surreal feeling to be driving this vehicle.
@Hangover - I know its a bit heavier on the juice but I live 5km from work and the most traffic I get is a pedestrian crossing the road, I also cycle to work often depending on the weather so fuel consumption for me was not a deciding factor. On the other hand I am personally terrified of diesels and for me that was the deciding factor, I cant stomach the costs to replace injectors & turbo if they go wrong.
First long distance trip to Durban in 2 weeks so looking forward to see how she goes on the open road.

Re: Dream come true
So with the first weekend in my Hilux done and dusted I did a fair bit of driving around... mix of town and highway and I have to be honest I don't know what all the fuss is about the 2.7 being thirsty on fuel. According to the on-board computer I am running at 9.2 km/L and I just checked from pump to pump and its fairly accurate. My calculation gave 9 km/L.
There is no mods or performance parts on the vehicle and all the CATs are still there... so whats the deal with all the other figures I have read about?

Re: Dream come true
I drove my for about 150 000km and not even when driving 100km/h did i ever see 8.5km/l... On average 7-7.3km/l this went up to 7.3-7.6km/l after the chip and zaust was done...
