As per heading, can all 3 radios live in peace in one vehicle?
Any special requirements.
VHF for Orra/Hilux channels,
UHF for neighbourhood comms and
29 for hte few lost soul stills out there.
I guess there will not be a 1st prize winner of one antenna with 3 plugs and doing the job for all of them?

There is a device that automatically tunes an antenna to the frequency and know it gets used by HAM's. This enables them to use one antenna for a range of frequencies. What I don't know is if it is suitable for vehicle use and if it can be used between the different bands because the three run in quite a different frequency spectrum / band.
Wavelengths
29MHz = 10m
VHF = 2m
UHF = 1m to 1dm
Generally speaking antennas are tune to full, halve or quarter wave to the above frequencies (eg. VHF quarterwave antenna is +-50cm tall)

^^^ ATU - Antenna Tuning Unit. Normally dedicated to a specific radio, but very expensive. There are (or were, don't know if still available) Antenna switches that you could use the same antenna but change the whips and simply flick the co-ax switch to whichever radio you're using.
Much simpler to use two antennas, one on each side of the vehicle on the B or C pillars for UHF & VHF. The days you go on outings with people using 29MHz, simply remove the UHF whip and fit the 29MHz whip. Or fit the 29MHz & VHF antennas permanently and use a magbase for the UHF radio.
You would need to use all antennas with the same Zara-type swivel base if you were going to change whips, some of the UHF antennas use different bases.

Willie, you need to join the Hilux Club (www.hiluxclub.co.za) and as soon as you have paid your fee and it shows on the bank statement, your username will change to blue.
Once you have done that, you visit this thread - VHF Radios: Please update your details here - URGENT - only visible to club members, and follow the directions in the first post.
I will shortly be sending out PDF files which grant an authority to all registered club members to make use of the Club's VHF frequencies - all at no additional charge.
