Water in foot well
Hi everyone.
Sunday's heavy rain in Randburg area, my bakkie was standing outside, 2012 Hulix Vigo.
I realized yesterday there was a lot of water in the passenger foot well under the carpet (Carpet was soaked).
Windows and door was closed. The morning before the rain I went to the shops and selected the outside intake for the airflow and vehicle was switched off in that selection.
Checked the floor and all the plugs where there. I have no idea where the water came from.
Has anyone had this problem before or any advise?
Can it be from the vents not closing and water coming in that way or must I double check the door seal.
I have cleared the water and dried the carpet. Only way I can think of is to spray bakkie with hose pipe and see where the water comes in?

Re: Water in foot well
Yes I know what your problem is. At least I think so. There is a rubber hose that connects to the condenser unit which runs through the firewall/floor to outside under the bakkie. This hose serves to drain out the water which collects in the condenser unit. You will recall the puddle of water under the left front side of the bakkie if the aircon was working just before parking. The hose just pushes onto a fitting on the condenser unit that sits above the left front passenger foot well. It is quite easy for someone to bump or push against this hose with their foot causing it to come off and for the water to run out and collect in the foot well. It is surprising how much water can collect there and how quickly. Especially if it is quite humid. It came off twice on my bakkie and eventually I secured it with a cable tie.

I agree with Marnus.I have also experienced the same problem and found the drain rubber hose chocked up with mud.
I cleaned the hose and the problem was solved.

Thanks a lot Marnus!
That is exactly what happened.
I will secure it with a cable tie as well.
Jeez I was confused as to where all the water came from.

And I have exactly the same issue. Haven't looked for what might cause it but seeing that we don't have water in Cpe Town and my bakkie has not been washed in months, I ruled that option out.
Will have look tonight and see. Thanks for the advice.

When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.

Re: Water in foot well
Had a look last night and it was off. So I zip tied it back on. I had fiddled with to aircon controls recently. The backlights were not working.
And, yes, I had been using the aircon on the day I noticed the water dripping from the passenger side door.
Once again, thanks for the help

Re: Water in foot well
regarding that drain pipe, mine blocked up from dust . and also noticed my floors where socked. if you block the open ed of the pipe and squeeze it a few times it unblocks itself. i had to do it twice to clear the pipe.
