I have a question about injector cleaning additives.
How does one know when to use injector cleaner?
I want to try to extend the life of my injectors on my D4D. 150000km on the clock.
Toyota quoted me R320 a small container of additive for a full tank diesel.
The garage over the road quotes R62 for about the same quantity.
What is the big difference? Will I be taking a chance with the cheaper options?

The dealerships often add huge mark-ups for what is essentially the same product you can get over the counter, just vehicle brand packaged. However, there's of course differing qualities and you can be assured (for the most part) that the stuff from dealerships is of a better standard. The huge difference in pricing makes me think that the product offered by your local garage may be of a lesser quality, but it's not a certainty.
In any event, I don't think you would be taking a chance by using it and I would give it a try.

Imho, if you have a blocked injector or injector not spraying properly. No amount of injector cleaner will dislodge or reset your injectors. Best is remove and take to your trusted diesel injector shop to have it cleaned and recalibrated. Yes injector cleaners imho may keep injectors operating to a point imho, but we toss it in for peace of mind..

I use Wynns Turbo and injector cleaner. The reason for that is that I was advised by the workshop manager of a very big and reputable dealership/workshop to.
