New bucket seats for 89 DC

Post by Tweetjie »

I have just put some second hand Camry seats into by 89 DC. Got them for R750 from a scrap dealer and fitted them with a few modifications. Had to drill three new holes and insert a braket on one side. Took me just over a day to complete. The new seats are finished off nicely with some Stingray seat covers.

The little fridge/warmer box that Hi-Fi Corp sells for around R400 works just fine for this!

Eric, I contacted Hi-Fi Corp, and the idiot of a salesperson said he had never heard of the central consul fridge unit. Outdoor Warehouse has them at R599 on sale, but it won't fit between the seats. It is 420x300x200 if anyone wants to check if they have enough room. I have only 170mm I got a non freezing one from Midas for R99 also on sale. better than nothing.

Hi Ron,

I was at Hi-F- Corp yesterday, browsing there while I waited for takeaways from a neighbouring food shop. They still have a couple of the same one that I have. Let me know if you want one and I'll get it for you. I wanted to send you a PM last night, but you know... at our age we forget these things

Hi Eric, If you could check the width for me. I have only 170mm to play with. In the mean time I have fitted the cheapie R99 from Midas.

Thanks,

Ron, the measurements are:

Length with cup holders folded down - 350mm
Width - 190mm
Height - 270mm

Fits between the 2.7i seats in Bulldog nicely. But I'm looking for another set of seat Belts, the ones I currently have (in pic above) bolt on to the floor and use a rigid steel cable so the buckle is at right angles to the console, which makes them difficult to operate. The normal 2.7i seat belts mount directly to the seats them selves and the buckle is parallel to the console.

Anybody got a spare set of suitable seat belts with a 17mm mounting hole?

Guys,
What is the best seats to fit, I still have the bench and it is still in good condition, but I'm hoping to to make hoppalong's ride more comfortable
and I have to say the idea of a few chilled beers under my arm seems the deciding factor.
I would like to do the least modifications(want to keep the bench, and be able to revert back to the original configuration if needed).

so What, Where, How and How much??

My seatbelt problem is sorted out, but certainly confused my little brain during the fitting of them. Thanks to Barrie Drench  my KZTE seatbelts fit perfectly! Smokkeled my kop in the beginning though! :o:
