Stupid People
In Honor of Stupid People .
In case you needed further proof that the human race is doomed through
stupidity,
here are some actual label instructions on consumer goods.
On Woolworth's Tiramisu dessert (printed on the bottom)
"Do not turn upside down."
(well...duh, a bit late, huh!)
==========================
On Pick n' Pay's peanuts -- "Warning: contains nuts."
(talk about a news flash)
===========================
On Boot's Children Cough Medicine -- "Do not drive a car or operate
machinery after taking this medication."
(We could do a lot to reduce the rate of construction accidents if we
could just get those 5 year-olds with head-colds off those bulldozers.)
==========================
On a Marks & Spencer Bread Pudding
"Product will be hot after heating."
(...and you thought????...)
=================================
On a Clicks hair dryer -
Do not use while sleeping.
(That's the only time I have to work on my hair.)
====================================
On a bag of Simba Chips --
You could be a winner! No purchase necessary!
Details inside.
(the shoplifter special?)
===========================
On a bar of Dove soap -
"Directions: Use like regular soap."
(and that would be???....)
============================
On some Checkers frozen dinners -
"Serving suggestion: Defrost."
(please note that it's just a suggestion.)
========================
On the packaging of a Rowenta iron -
"Don't iron clothes on body."
(but wouldn't this save me time?)
==============================
On Nytol Sleep Aid -- "Warning: May cause drowsiness."
(..I'm taking this because???....)
===============================
On some brands of Christmas lights of Eastern origin:
"For indoor or outdoor use only."
(As opposed to what?)
==========================
On a Japanese food processor:
"Not to be used for the other use."
(Now, somebody out there, please help me on this. I'm a bit curious.)
==============================
Instructions on a SA Airways packet of peanuts -
[1] Open packet;
[2] Eat nuts.
(Step 3: say what?)
===========================
On a child's Superman costume:
"Wearing of this garment does not enable you to fly."
(Don't blame the company. I blame the parents for this one.)
========================
On a German chainsaw ..
"Do not attempt to stop chain with your hands or genitals."
(Was there a lot of this happening somewhere?)
===========================
Blessed are the cracked - for it is they who let in the light

The examples given are just a few, there's virtually something similar written on every goods saleable in the UK
The Warnings are a product of over-jealous PC (Politically Correctness) Legislation that has plagued the UK and EC (European Community) over the last decade. :o
I sincerely hope that RSA doesn't fall into the same trap nê :)
I agree with Hops re: the language, hold onto it with both hands and pass it down the family otherwise, as sure as eggs is eggs. it will also fall victim to the PC Brigade.

CT building collapses
2009-06-06 11:51
Cape Town - About 70 people had to evacuate a 110-year-old building in Salt River, Cape Town before it collapsed due to heavy rains early on Saturday, city disaster management said.
"The residents of the double storey building were moved to a hall in the area," said Disaster Risk Management Centre head Wilfred Solomons-Johannes.
The Old Junction hotel was built in October 1899.
Building inspectors declared it unsafe for human occupation after it collapsed.

When else would you consider it to be unsafe.
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!

There's a "Informal dwelling camp" (PC Language) near by that was set up after the xenophobia attacks last year, it was only meant as a temporary camp but now it's too big and permanent to disband.

Mmmm I had to think a little,and yes Allan,I fully agree with you.Its if there is a little double standards here.Although I am not in favour of swearing,(because it is a lack of vocabulary),but it is spoken in another manner that it is written.Hoppy wrote:And because words like poefies and Sex is perfectly exeptable in english, but taboo in afrikaans.

Re: Stupid People
Hey poefies is a perfect Afrikaans translation for sh1tt. There is no forum filter that changes the word sex, but maybe we should put a filter on that changes it to skaap like in gemeenskaap
Hentey
We only moderate posts that is outright rude foul or contains something that is taboo for general consumption. Yes we prefer not to use swear words, most of the time a swearword can be replaced with a frienlier word like poefies which is just as descriptive and even a bit humorous. The only thing that you will find that is outright deleted is pictures that contains images that is not rated "family" or I personally have deleted jokes that I consider blasphemes or offensive as a Christian. If ever you come across a joke that offend you in anyway feel free to report it and one of us will attend to it. Many of the posts that were removed were due to complaints we received.

Re: Stupid People
Actually this is a real shame as the Local Heritage Committee and the Salt River Urban Regeneration Council are very keen to re-habilitate this and similar structures in the surrounds. I live about 2 klicks from this building, its a shame manneIrishman wrote:Allan, here is one from this mornings Cape times

I would have loved to! Very much into my "antique" collection nowadays, not one for the modern steel, glass & plastic structures which spring up everywhere, which have no character at all. One just has to look at the Churches thread to see what Craftsmanship was like.I can picture a Larney Gent like FD frequenting such a fine establishment nê
But I have to admit, I do like modern conveniences such as air-cons tho'!
