I have "leftovers" in my garage after my V6 conversion and I was thinking of posting them for sale on the forum. I only joined yesterday after leaving 4xforum last year.

1 x '87 Hilux DC 4x4 minus loadbody and engine ( I removed the JT3000 Ford V6 and put it in my vehicle)
Body has some rust and no rear seats but chassis, g/box, axles complete and in good order.

1 x 4 Y engine in running order removed from my Hilux.

I'LL TRY TAKE SOME PHOTOS THIS WEEKEND AND POST THEM.

Vehicle has been scrapped and no longer licensed, so is good for spares or as an offroad project.

This is the vehicle before I threw the "bak" away.

Andrew,

I would like the Heater control valve (the one near the firewall that controls flow of water to the interior heater) if you still have it. I would also be interested in the entire dashboard moulding & cubby hole, if still in reasonable nick.

Would appreciate it if you could PM me prices and details.

Hey Justin, how about you measure the height of the rear wheel arch from the ground (unloaded and on a flat surface) and then ask the members with standard suspension to do the same. Then you can compare and decide from that. :D

I will measure mine tonight and post tomorrow for you.

OK, so having measured the rear of my Lux this morning has mnade me realise that I need to take a serious look at the suspension when I get back from Moz in January. I measured from the ground to the wheel arch and got 880mm on the right and 900mm on the left
Me thinks I have a sagging right side, will have to price new suspension

Oh CM, thats with 265/75/15's and sagging suspension. :(

Scott

Not sure if that is your problem but the weight of the fuel in your tank can cause this a difference.

Also what I found that after turning into my driveway and stopping the suspension did not get time to settle so measuring it would then cause similar results, but If I drive up and down in my driveway a few times in straight line and brake hard a few times as well, the suspension settles and this "problem" disappears.

Thanks Bennie, because of cuurent fuel prices my tank has been converted to a whiskey container and is therefore empty (as I drink alotof whiskey)
It could however be the settling thing but as it is not a major difference it doesnt really bug me too much, but I will have a look next year and see whats going on.

Hi Justin,

My rear suspension measurement is 782mm from bottom of rim to wheel arch.

This is with OME springs. Before I changed the springs, the old reading was 730mm.

I did not really noticed the sag until I did the comparison to another standard Hilux.

Cheers

Hi Andrew

Mine is 755mm measured the same way. If I measure mine from the ground to the bottom of the running board just in front of the rear wheel and just behind the front wheel I get 500mm at both points.

FD here is the pic of the whole van.

Justin, she looks stunning!

Looking at the overcast weather in your photo made me look outside here, much the same, we had rain about half an hour ago, but the wind has since come up and the clouds are dissipating now.

BTW, you're scarce on the AVSA forum... join in and help me control that wild-haired mob!

I had to reign in Andrew, the Man. Ed. of AVSA magazine when he made some disparaging remarks about 4x4'ers, although I certainly understand where he is coming from. His gripe is with one poepol, not 4x4'ers in general.

I was going to do the same thing Eric but I figured it would be better to fit them now so that all the holes are drilled already buy the time it comes to spraying so I wont have rust problems later.

Justin

Great, she looks much better that before. 30 mm does not sound much but for a shackle lift that is significant. It was about the amount we finally got on Bulldog too with 75 mm extension on the Shackles. But the extra 75mm means softer rear suspension and also a much improved articulation due to the added down travel as well. On bulldog we saw that the shackle was now not the limiting factor on downward travel anymore but actually the shock. So with LC shocks the downward travel can even be better.

How much did you extend yours?

This is why I also fitted Landcruiser shocks all round, they were the best application for the revolver shackles
