Took mine 3 weeks ago, also passed. Only crap part is that it's registration certificate is the old pink one. Now I have to get a police clearance cert as well :blackeye:

What else did you have to do to get the load capacity lifted? Only reason I haven't converted mine yet...

Stef, I had the trailer weighed and their is a form that has to be filled in. They then calculate the load according to the rating of the tyres it has on. Be carefull not to have tyres rated to high because then you need a braked axle( over 1000 kg) My tyres are rated at 350 kg so that makes it 700 kg. Police clearence is not too much problem, all the vin numbers must be their and it also needs to be data dotted.
We are maybe a bit more laid back then the bigger centers here in Springbok so I had little problems, the test officer helped me to stick the reflectors on. Haha.

They will also look at the suspension and take the springs into account when determining a load capacity. ;-)

Tx Roger,

Had no issues at the Montana branch of Dekra, they told me what to do before bringing it for the RWC.

The police clearance can only be done at 2 places in Pta, Waltloo or Centurion...and the EE is rife so I'm preparing for a day long event :eh:

I think I'll redo the entire trailer once it is in my name..sommer widen the frame & everything, and then go for the new load capacity rating.

do yourself a huge favour and extend that a-fram to the shukle, meaning up to the side frame near the mudguard.

Here's to reviving an old thread...

The Venters sure look trail ready.

Do you guys recall what axle width you used for the upgrade? I want to upgrade my 7 foot Venter as well.

After the december trip we realised that the caravan will not be able to go where we want to, and I need a multi purpose trailer (not one only dedicated to camping trips)

Any advise would be appreciated.

Regards

Jurgen

Just do a search here on the forum, been discussed plenty times. I think Pieter built something to the likes of what you want to do.
