Hilux - Wiring
I want to provide 12V to the fridge in the back of the Hilux.
Running the wiring was the easy bit.
I opted to go for a relay to cut the power to the fridge when the ignition is switched off.
Here's the question - WHERE is the easiest to pick up a 12V signal that the ignition is on or off ??
In my previous vehicle I used a signal from the sigaret lighter - not easy to get to in the Hilux.
Do I have to fiddle under the dash, or can I get an ignition ON/OFF signal inside the engine compartment?

Oh. sorry man!
If you have a multi tester you can check the fuse box in the engine compartment which fuse terminals come on with the ignition and run a cable off one of those supplies to your relay. There might be one marked "Engine" ..... don't know the SRX .... you'll just have to check. Use the one with the highest amp rating you can find that comes alive with the ignition .... It might be better to find one that comes alive on the accessory position so that you have the choice to run the fridge without the motor if you should ever want to do so.![](https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/s9e/emoji-assets-twemoji@11.2/dist/svgz/1f609.svgz)

Re: Hilux - Wiring
The manual is your friend ...... (well almost)
The manual points to THREE fuse boxes:
1) In the engine compartment
2) Behind the glove box
3) Under the steering column
BUT, to get to number 2 and 3 parts needs to be removed ....
- The glove box just clips out
- A panel under the steering column clips out.
The second column, once removed, reveals the back end of the sigarette lighter. :D
Let the pictures tell the rest of the story -

Re: Hilux - Wiring
The cigarette lighter feed should be ideal (They usually work on accessory) and the relay won't draw enough to interfere with the normal lighter operation.
Run your trigger wire from the lighter feed through the firewall via an existing cable gland / grommet to the engine compartment and bring it close to the battery. Mount your relay in that area and leave a little slack on all three live's (• Main live feed from battery, • switched live to fridge, • live trigger). The fourth wire required is of course the earth. Should work like a charm! ![](https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/s9e/emoji-assets-twemoji@11.2/dist/svgz/1f609.svgz)

Mudd Dog - presies so gedoen. :D
Drade oorals mooi gecable-tie. Positiewe drade beskerm teen moontlike vibrasie teen metaal oppervlaktes.

:wth:
