To avoid confusion I created two separate posts for the world record attempt day.
This one is for the marshals. So ONLY marshals respond here please.

Below is the list which shows who must be where on the day.

Dankie dit skep bietjie meer lig op die onderwerp.

Ons marshal sal seker vroeg die oggend ingelig word hoe om te maak met ons eie voertuie en om
dit moontlik saam met die forum convoy te kan parkeer.

Ek is gewoonlik n early bird so ek beplan om al 6uur daar te wees net vir ingeval........

Net vir meer info, ek sien dat my dienste verlang word op die "Entrance Route" beteken dit dat ek op die roete rond
sal beweeg of n sekere area sal dek vir rigting aanwysing en moontlike recovery bystand?

Ek vra maar want my hele gesin kom saam en dit gaan n lang dag wees as hulle heeldag saam my op een plek
staan, dit sal seker meer plesierig wees vir hulle om by die event area self te ontspan waar ek hulle later kan join.

As iemand al by so event was en weet hoe dit werk laatweet ma asb.......

Pieter kan mens al Vrydag aand soontoe gaan en sommer oor slaap ?

Dan hoef mens mos nie so erg vroeg op te staan om 6 uur daar te wees nie .... :)

Ons is klaar n lekker groepie wat sommer saam gaan kamp vir die naweek in Ou Skip so join ons.

I have got 2 extra bodies in my lux - is there a way that they can travel in to the parking lot area and back, coz i'm sure they don't want to sit at the gate all day.
one is my brother and the other if Leon (wolffie02 - a forum member) ?

Barry, there will be vehicles moving between the points all day long. They can bum a lift. I will also be driving in and out during the day, so I can also take a passenger or 2.

All entrances will be manned by City of Cape Town officials. Those could be Metro/Traffic cops. Remember it is illegal to "slip in" and trespassers will be dealt with according to the laws and statutes governing access to the Dunes.

Tomorrow (Tuesday) morning we have a final meeting with the organisers. If there are any unanswered questions for the organisers and that are not anywhere to be found on this forum already, now is your chance to ask them. Please list your questions so that I can compile a list for Anton to present to the organisers at the meeting. I know of at least 1 question so far:

1) Who is going to re-inflate tyres after the event.
2) Gaan daar darem vir ons (Marhals) naam plaatjies wees?

Daai's maklik... alle marshals met voertuie (wat op daardie stadium nog nie geparkeer is nie) ry in en parkeer op die "parking lot". Onthou die marshals se voertuie is deel van die hele record attempt en moet in die lugfoto wees om getel te kan word.

nie baie ver nie, seker so 1500m... maar die paadjie gaan langer wees, want hulle gaan dit uitsit langs die platste roete. Oor die duine is dit korter.

Guys... while taking a lekka hot shower this morning I was thinking about the whole event and the magnitude of the event suddenly be came crystal clear. Think about it like this. Toyota is expecting a turnout of about 700 bakkies. Okay. How many minutes are there in an hour? 60 that's right yes. Now let's say we get 1 bakkie every 30 second through the gate (signing forms, deflating tyres...) we will process 120 per hour. After 6 hours we would have processed 720 vehicles...... That is an extremely tight schedule

Yes, it is a very nice idea to have it on the dunes for the pictures, but next time it would be better to have it at a place like Verneukpan where you do not have to deflate tyres or sign indemnity forms.

I read on lccsa that almost 5oo registered, and that 500 would be the cut off. Any thruth in this?

I dont think so Riaan, I heard they expect 700 vehicles, so the capacity will be there to handle more than 500. I think the "cut-off" strategy is to get the late bloomers to register as soon as possible..

Mark, the best they'll be able to do, is get the record for most vehicles stranded en route. If they want to get the record for all landies in one place, it's gonna cost big bucks to hire all the trucks and flatbeds and tow vehicles...

As far as I have heard from one of the members who is in the club that does the organising , there is supposedly a truck with compressors on and 8 air lines - 4 guys to a bakkie x 2...
But thats just what I heard - coz I doubt if "all" hilux owners have compressors

Jip, ek was op die punt om terugvoering te gee. Daar is eintlik niks nuuts nie, en die enigste inligting wat ons het is in die PDF wat ek so entjie terug op hierdie thread ge-post het.

Alle Marshals moes ASB stiptelik om 6:30 aanmeld by Hek 1 sodat ons voertuie deur die registrasie-proses kan gaan en vir ons finale Marshals briefing waar die verskillende spanne verder ingedeel en take uitgedeel gaan word. Teen 7:30 moet almal posisies inneem en gereed maak vir die rush wat 8:00 verwag word. Net vir veiligheid beplan ek om al 6:00 daar te wees, net sodat ek nie (soos gewoonlik) 10 minute laat is nie.

Maak julle gereed vir harde werk....

Hier is hy weer vir die wat hom gemis het....

Ouens, it is all a bit up in the air still, the events orgasnisers are running off their feet trying to get all the last minute arrangementsin place. I have not really got all the answers right now, but the "slim manne met die planne" will address all these issues at the Pre-Event Marshals Briefing. The will be gazebo's so there's no need to use our own vehicles as shelter/shade or admin base stations.

Wees net daar 06:00 and all will be revealed.. Die ding moet nou kom, dat ons kan aan die gang kom, die gewag maak my gek....
