Hilux 4x4 Forum

Hi All

When I arrived in the Seychelles 6months ago I had the choice of a cheap old, rickety 89 Toyota Hilux or a variety of other cars. Being an owner of a 97 Hilux back home, the choice was a no brainer!!!

But, as expected, Puff (the 89) does a lot of Huffing!

I'm hoping that someone can help me track down a workshop manual for the model hilux/engine!

Hi Fred and welcome to the forum!

What is it that you need to know? AFAIK the 2Y is the same motor / block as the 4Y, just the bore size that is different. Even the head and carb looks the same.

Well its basically for keeping her running! The mechanics out here aren't exactly reliable. So pretty much all work and servicing will be done myself. The manuals I know are a massive help and one would do very nicely to make up the gaps in my knowledge and experience!
