Hy het 'n 50liter long range tank en 'n dual batt system (without the batt). Verder is hy virgin - selfs die original sanyo-toyota tape deck radio tot my frustrasie! Std rims ook.

My "wish list" is 'n nice 4x4 bumper en 'n winch vir nou. Vir die res - dis hoekom ek hier is! haha - as ek so lees klink dit vir my 'n ander suspensie moet ook my lys kom, ek is vir eers gelukkig met die wiele soos dit is, enige voorstelle deur ander lede op die forum sal waardeer word, my "wish list" se uitvoering sal natuurlik deur my beursie se welstand se bepaal word! :laugh2: o ja en miskien 'n snorkel?? :

Soos Mark se, daar is nie einde nie. As jy eers met jou bakkie begin is daar nie einde nie! Jy sal altyd iets kry om te doen. n Hilux is net so verslawend soos DIE forum.

Agreed!
It's been said here many times before ..... the single most important mod is a suspension upgrade. Not just to lift the bakkie for the sake of appearances, but to give added clearance IRO approach angle, break-over angle and departure angle, as well as improved axle articulation which translates into better traction on undulating surfaces (off-road). This often negates the need for lockers, and even winches, unless one starts getting a little more into challenging terrain. Add to that the improved ride comfort and it's a clear cut winner mod.

Also said here numerous times in the past, it is far better to learn the finer techniques of off-road driving without the use of lockers and other aids, so that you are 'forced' to learn how to judge and choose a good line, the value of low tyre pressures, selecting the correct gearing and rev range etc. etc. .... and of course to get to know the vehicle's capabilities and short comings as well as your own.

Save towards a good and proven upgrade that will last ..... it's worth it! ;-)

Thanks all for the great welcome, it's obvious that a suspension upgrade should be priority, I guess this is important if you plan to do high level 4x4, or extreme 4x4, would you guys categorize the std suspension sufficient for normal (occasional) 4x4 need :?: Also if I do upgrade the suspension, there is a lot of benefits as Andy has mentioned, but what about ratio's on gearbox/diff (and the effect), fuel consumption (although low priority), and general longevity of the truck with the upgraded height etc. Would like to hear your experienced opinions.

The upgraded height should only give you about 80 to 100mm lift. The only thing that will be negatively impacted would be a slightly more wind resistance and therefore a slightly higher fuel consumption, but it's almost unnoticeable. There is no negative impact on the drive train with the standard upgrades and in fact it will benefit the longevity of the vehicle IRO less off road damage to the undercarriage.
Even for occasional 4x4 use, the improved ride comfort alone (with OME) is worth it. ;-)

Full OME kit fitted is about 18 - 19K
Mikem kit fitted around 12 - 13K
Not sure what Procomp go for these days but they're also pretty decent.

But I personally wouldn't look at any of the others and in my experience, OME is still the better option .... and they last forever.
