Re: WC - Year End Function 2011
oops... wrong button....
The view from the top of the trail
cool weather which was great for driving but a bit chilly when we reached the top
There had'nt been much rain so the guys decided to re work the mud pool...Stubs doing his thing..
Bolt II had a go
Estiaan decided not to be left out.
We even had a Ford in our midst,
Swartvark decided that Hilux's were as comfortable flying as they are on the ground
And then Pieter and Mr. B decided to re-arrange the course

Re: WC - Year End Function 2011
Stephan decided to try the obstacle out....
after churning the mud in the mud pool Johannes decide to take the family on a drive through the obstacle...
Later on that day we returned to the camp site.....and we hid the party packs for the children to find in the forest... and then my friend started with the face painting...
Stu and Stephan.... thanks a lot for all the preparations for an awesome weekend.... thanks to my fellow hilux members and their families, that were there, for being such an amazing group of people. It was such a pleasure being able to ride the trail together and spend the weekend with all of you

PS - n Toyota span het die "points event" gewen !! :) (en die decider was twee stukke SAGTE sand, daai SFA's het gat geskop. :)

P.S. Bretton, don't give that van too hard a time ... it's not an SFA! ..... If you carry on getting softer, you'll soon be driving a Ranger!

Re: WC - Year End Function 2011
It was a great event!! Thanks to Stu for organising, you did well mate!! Also to the rest of the guys that made the "kuier" so lekker. I only arrived on Saturday morning, but it seems like the "manne" packed in a good kuier on Friday night.
The trail was nothing really challenging, but we still had lots of fun. Driving the Blue Limo was an interesting change from the "go-anywhere-sit-back-and-relax-and-kick-the-throttle-from-time-to-time" style in which Kaspaas did it, but hey, the blue Ford did everything I asked of it, and more, and he brought me home in one piece.
I also learned that you dont need to have 33" MTR's, 10000 kW's of power, OME suspension, body lifts etc etc to have fun. 30" Ching Chong A/T's and stock suspension coupled to a 80kW diesel motor is just as much fun!!
It was great to see old faces again, and to meet new ones. now for the next one!!!

Re: WC - Year End Function 2011
This was one of the best Hilux weekends we had so far. The trail was mostly boring but still we had a ball. Thanks to Stuart for a well orginized event
And last but not least, we had a spy in the camp

Re: WC - Year End Function 2011
Thanks to you all, was a great weekend, Luxter didn't want to go, he blew a gasket on the way there, but with a few cans of oil and 10 litres water we made it there and back, unfortunately we were to late to do the trail, but i hear we didn't miss much except for the mud pit that was permanently displaced by big tyres and excesive horsepower.
Luxter's damage are not terminal, the motor is out and stripped, a set of rings and a headgasket will do it. It was an old secondhand motor that i fitted a few months ago, the last two challenges took it's toll.
We will post those "Spy Shots" this evening, they need some sensoring and editting

I see that Mr Bull is still up to his usual antics ... which is probably what caused the expressions of amusement on the faces of Wynand, Liesle, Johannes and Bianca in those pics. I'm sure you all had great fun!

Re: WC - Year End Function 2011
Firstly thanks to one and all for making the effort to come and join in....so where should I begin ??? ok, lets start with Friday !!!!
So a few of the early birds arrived early and we had a impromptu meeting at the Venster Pub and grill, Wynand, Boetie, JC, Val and pal....If i just say Stawberry Tequila then that puts that story to bed !!!! SideKick called me but it was too late as he was already at the Campsite...his loss, heheh..so around 4 we drove to Voorhoede and set up camp, now as the saying goes "Loose lips sink ships" so just to say someone was already on their way and putting up the tent was a bit of a mission and I am not talking about me before anyone makes a comment (Trekoskraal !)...
Johannes,Bianca, JJ, carla and Piet and Elmi were the next to arrive, we had the fire already roaring for the evenings events, slowly but slowly but surely everyone else rocked up, Swartvark, Mr B (albeit he took the long road to get there ) so there after you can figure the rest out for yourself around the fire !!!!
Saturday morning everyone was up bright and breezy (well not everyone - ask Shimano  getting ready for the trail, we had a trail brief at 0900 hours and by this time Estiaan and Alana, thys had rocked up as well. I supplied Bacon sarmies for Thys (I dont know why I always have to do this or do it in fact !)
So we departed across the N2 to the trail start and we had a Comms check and just before we were about to go Petrus rocked up after having driven to Mossel baai and back with a caravan for his mate !! nice one my friend,.....so last but not least was Hoppy but we got a phone call to say his head gasket had blown, he was going to change his viscous fan to blow all the time and that he would be there !! Nice one Hoppy, so we caught up with him later in the day,
Onto the trail, yes its a very easy drive, not techincal at all plus it had recently been graded so it was more of a scenic drive but nice nonetheless. On the tail end of the trail there is a little play section, and as previoulsy stated we all got muddy and Mr B showed of his spade prowess !!! Johannes had to go as he had a rim leak and Petrus left as he had no fuel !! We spent a good couple of hours there as the photos show justice to.
Back to the campsite, we got the fire roaring again,
Myself and Johannes had a quick Bush Mechanics practice and we debeaded his tyre and cleaned it up and re sat it, then Hoppy sorted out my Alternator belt which was loose as a Lady of the nights Knickers !!! Petrus did us the pleasure of supplying the music and we set ourselves up for a long night ahead, The spit turned up as promised bang on 1500 hours and Hansie from the Venster was there at 1700 hours as promised with the salads and rolls....food was fantastic and for dessert I supplied everyone with a King cone Truffle, some had two but I wont name names .....the sun went down, the music got louder, the booze supplies got smaller and the conversation got louder and thats where I am going to leave Saturday night....
Sunday morning everyone awoke, albeit a bit fragile - why do they make tents bags to small for the actual tent to go back into ????......... I had to leave early as I had a meeting so myself, Erika, Estiaan, alana left and went to Hermanus....the rest of the guys had the fire going again already so their day was set,
Myself, erika, Estiaan, Alana, Pieter, Elmi, Johannes and family, Sidekick and missus had a lekker lunch at the Gecko in the New Harbour, the weather was perfect as was the crowd !! (how was Phantom of the Opera Piet ??).....
All in all a great weekend, brilliant turnout, yes the trail could have been a bit more demanding but at the end of the day it was more of a get together than trail event plus people had kids on board....so I for one think it was success and one to put down in the history books for the Hilux and Ford (thys) mense !!!!
Lastly thank you to everyone !! it was great to put new faces to old usernames........oh and actually to see Mr B get his bakkie dirty - I was impressed.
Photos to follow, just have to resize etc. thanks to Val's pal for doing the face painting, that kept the little ones entertained and Val for the party sweet pack, Thanks for Piet for the bottle openers as well...oh and the kind person that gave me a grandpa !!!
I camped again on Sunday Night with Johannes at Onrus Caravan park, we took the kids for a swim in the sea and it was stunning, Thanks Johan for the company, hospitality and hope you have a great road trip further on.......
cheers Stubster
