All license holders would have received the following letter from ORRA:
DATA VERIFICATION PRIOR TO 2012/2013 LICENCING PERIOD
ORRA’s previous communication w.r.t the current process, future changes and ICASA requirements refers. If you have not yet seen this communication, please refer to your club radio officer.
Unfortunately, ICASA now require FULL DETAIL of each ORRA licence holder, in order to manage the process of issuing licences to the association. In this regard, we now require the attached DATA VERIFICATION FORM to be completed by all EXISTING licence holders (29mHz and VHF). In future, information such as ID Number and Radio Serial Number, will be displayed on your radio licence issued, and you will get a licence per device you own / licence.
Please complete the form below at your earliest convenience, and immediately return to orra@aawdc.org.za for our administrator to update your current records. INCOMPLETE forms will not be captured. ALL details requested on the form MUST be completed, even if it means uninstalling your radio to get the serial number. This is unfortunate, but it is the new ICASA legislation. No renewal invites will be sent out until your DATA VERIFICATION FORM has been received and captured. We understand that this is an administrative burden on yourselves, but remember we have over 2000 licences across the two ranges to capture!
Please note that every radio in your possession must be licenced.
We thank you in anticipation of your effort and ensurance of accuracy. Remember, no accurate form, no licence renewal equates to illegal radio. So please help us to help you.
Yours Sincerely
Peter Claasen
Please download the following form and email the completed form to orra@hilux4x4.co.za so we can verify your club detail and forward it to ORRA admin Click here to download
Can I apply for a new VHF license as a member of the Hilux forum?
I am aware of the current issue with ORRA and the number of available VHF licenses.
Will I stand a better chance this way, compared to being a member of another 4x4 club or forum?
You can still apply for a license to ORRA as a member of our club. Visit http://www.orra.co.za" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for more information. There is a temporary hold on new licenses but you can do the paperword so long as this should be sorted out soon.

Chris, I think they are mainly after the serial numbers, which was not a requirement, as per Pieter Claasens note, they require info on each radio even if it has to be removed......yeh
@ Kobus (Subok). Take note that there is a difference between Forum and Club membership, and as Cassie says this pertains to Club members .....
Caskru wrote:You can still apply for a license to ORRA as a member of our club.
To apply through ORRA you have to be affiliated to a club that is a member of AAWDC, which we are. Club membership is a mere R100 per annum should you want to join ..... look here.

Thinus...

I just received my invoice for my license renewal for 2012.
Please make sure you follow up on yours as I see non payment after the 31st of May will result in you loosing you call sign and your info forwarded to ICASA for prosecution

So what now? Can I expect some kind of notification or licence card in die post???
Guess the next step would like before when they post your license to you.
They did mention in one of the meetings last year that they were thinking of issuing licenses per device as it is the device that is licensed and not the person. So you might receive more than one license depending on your information by them and if they decided to implement this.

Yes Eric... mine was for my VHF radios
It seems like it's R130 per radio license fee and R25 Admin fee making it R155 per radio per year.
Got my invoice last week and paid...The renewed the VHF licence for me as well even thought I don't have a radio installed at the moment. One less thing to worry about...
Lollie wrote:I also received and paid mine. Why the admin fee?I was under the impression that it is only a onces off fee when you registered for the first time.

Ek het ook so verstaan...i.p.v 'n lisensie per voertuig kry jy nou 'n lisensie per radio. Wat my pla is dat dit klink of dit aan die voertuig ook gekoppel gaan wees so as jy radios skuif sal jy elke keer vir ORRA moet laat weet...
ChrisF wrote:I HAD 3 licenses - 1 of 29mhz, and 2 of VHF.
Got my form from Rina, only the 29mhz license is now shown ... AND it shows I am in CREDIT with them .....
I am now officially confused.
