Cassie,this might give you some idea. Here you can see Heinrich standing next to the bakkie (holding me up) with the top of his head just level with the bottom of my window frame.

Hi Steve, that road is a must. From the N7 to Hondeklip Bay is an absolute awesome drive and then of course from there south via the Namaqua Park is an experience. We camped in the park last night.

I'm going to jump ahead a little, I know everyone is keen to see the ascent of the step obstacle... so let's see what we can do... not all the video content came out as good as I hoped, but I'm sure it'll be good enough to get the picture... one moment please... got to find software to edit/crunch mov files...

Just to show what a little rain can do... straight after Johannes, it rained hard for approx. 3 minutes, wet tyres, wet rocks... a recipe for trouble...

Sorry about the language, as soon as I can I'll edit it out... safe to say everyone got a fright!

Last set for the evening... I'll post more in the morning, depending on work... these will give you a better perspective on the recovery... what wasn't evident at first was that Steve's vehicle was stranded on the rocks, he couldn't reverse as cross member would have connected the rock, and couldn't go forward because the rock was also in the rear diff's way... so Heinrich and team had to position rocks to lift the vehicle while being winched forward...
