Hilux / Fortuner Clock / computer
My Hilux, a 2006 model, has the standard clock in the centre of the dash.
Not sure what the newer models have.
A friend of mine has a 2006 Fortuner, he has the advanced "clock" instead of my simple boring one, it has a temp display, consumption display and clock, not sure if there is more, But its a lot of useful info I wouldn't mind having too.
Does anyone know, can one of the advanced ones be fitted into my Lux, just by plugging it in?
Of is it missing components?

Re: Hilux / Fortuner Clock / computer
The earlier models 2005 /2007 had just the standard clock. (Also the 2.5 SRX)
Somewhere in 2008 the additions wre introduced like
Outside temp, ave fuel consumption, l/100km, fuel range.
I would think it is possible like you suggested

I am thinking the wiring lumes are all the same so everythign shoud be there already. So if I got one at a scrap yard I could plug it in and see how cold it is in the mornings
My first car was a 1986 Conquest, did a similar thing there, the speedo cluster didnt have a rev counter, I got one at the scrap yard and plugged it in, voila, no problem at all and it all worked
Has anyone tried?? Or know??

I'm also interested in such a add-on..
But surely you need a thermometer somewhere installed, also how do they measure the consumption - and where does it goes - in the petrol tank?

Well this is why I am wondering, Maybe the Thermometer is there by default and so is the rest of the consumtion goodies, why would it all be different to a Fortuner in the same year?

Re: Hilux / Fortuner Clock / computer
I would also like to know, so please post your findings here!
Only thing I can think of that might cause a plug and play not to work are the sensors that would read the relevant information.
Might be worth the effort the find a console and plug it in and see what it reads.
On a side note, if you would get a console from a scrapyard, plug it in and it works, how would you get your ODO meter reading to what it is suppose to be?!? Can that be reset or re-calibrated?

And no need to do anything with the ODO, this clock is separate. As far as i know that info is stored on the computer box anyways, so even if you did change your speedo cluster, the ODO would still read the same

Re: Hilux / Fortuner Clock / computer
My dad have a slight newer model Lux than mine and it does have the updated clock in.
I'll let you know if I was able to convince him over the weekend to strip his dash and borrow his clock! :shifty:

Hahahaha, almost something like that!
Did not get around to it at all! Apologies for not getting back earlier! As soon as I have been able to have a look I'll let you know! But don't stop your investigation!

At this rate, my only conclusive solution is going to be to go to a scrap yard and get one and actually do it and see it if works.Cleaner wrote:Hahahaha, almost something like that!

Anyone have any contacts?? What would a second hand one cost?
